| #1blazanarMay 09, 2008 14:20:31 | hello, i have a beguiler thats level 11. he is a halfling. i quite dont have a name. does anyone have suggestions for a truly good and cool background because my dm says we should have a purpose for who we are and what we do. oh ya and he is chaotic neutral too. thanks for all suggestions! |

Not that I think it should be a goblin-only class or even necessarily tied to goblins, but it seems similar to sorcerer for the sneaky inventive types. I think a character like that would probably start off in a similar manner to a rogue (so lots of options here), start creating weird effects by coincidence/mistake around puberty, eventually figure out (possibly with the help of a more experienced and knowledgeable beguiler) that they've been unintentionally wielding power themselves the whole time, then set off on a likely lifelong quest to understand, harness, increase, and master that power. A halfling beguiler would likely have a different outlook and attitude from a goblin beguiler (and almost certainly different background circumstances) but I think the basic idea is sound. Season with different details as appropriate. |

The purpose of the background, I assume, to give you interesting character depth, I'd also suggest some social reactions to medium and large groups, even friendly, such as an overwhelming need to compete, perform, or prove him/herself. |
