Half of this is also finding the moves that fit. One consideration is Monk. Another is a hybrid Fighter Barbarian, or non hybrid of one of those. Also Considered Ardent for the effects. One thing I found for this is Pouncing Armor, hide or leather, when charging instead of running you make a jump at the enemy. anyone have any other ideas or reccomendations. |

Monk is an Implement class -what weapon (if any) they have in their hands makes absolutely no difference to how they fight. They can pummel you with equal effectiveness with a glaive, a longsword, a whip, a broken barstool or a canned ham. Barbarians like large two-handed things and a polearm could work but isn't optimal. I will leave the effectiveness of hybridization to those who care about such things. Figther is probably your polearm gold-standard. They have powers that directly support it and can array their stats to make the most effect. Polearm Gamble in particular is a solid way to increase your effectiveness as a Defender. Look to a Longtooth Shifter in particular -their stats are in the right place for this. |

EDIT: An Eladrin character could also be a good idea, because of their racial Eladrin Soldier feet, which is both proficiency with all spears and a +2 to dmg rolls. But the greatspear proficiency won't matter much if you're a monk, so it might be better for, say, a fighter. |
