| #1randomvirusApr 08, 2012 3:09:51 | Tonight, my party came up against a nasty group of zombies. The Death Mold Zombies have a power, Spore Burst, (recharges on a 5/6, yeesh) that if the attack drops a living creature below 1 hp, the creature then comes back to life as a Death Mold Zombie. No death saves, just back as a zombie. It's a little cruel in my opinion, but fairly appropriate for paragon tier I think. Anyways, tonight we almost had a guy subject to this. 1 hit point of damage more when this attack had hit him and we'd have an elf zombie with us. What I'm here asking though is there anyway to undo this effect? Our party druid has the "Restore Life" daily power, would this work? Our DM suggested that the restoration would likely be two-fold. A remove affliction ritual, then followed by restore life. Does anybody know how, if there is any way to undo a party member going down like this, in the rules themselves? Would love to know preventative measures also, any items that could prevent such things from happening. ![]() |

It is the DM’s job to weave the story around your actions and any DM worth a pinch of salt wouldn’t turn down such an easy character hook. Magical healing springs at the tops of mountains or mystical monks in the deep dark forest. Walk into a tavern and ask to speak to a Wizard, from there someone skilled in magics or potions should point you towards a cure. |

I can't remember exactly what it entailed, but I know it required more powerful magic (True Resurrection, for example, or perhaps even a Wish or Miracle). I don't remember how it works in 4e though. They've simplified so many things its likely that there isn't anything special about bringing a character who's been turned into a zombie back to life. Of course, the golden rule is to just ask the DM. He/she has more power than the rulebooks after all. |
