| #1notusJul 23, 2009 16:36:51 | I've been DM for a while and will be playing as a PC soon for a while and don't know what class to choose, I don't particularly care what class I am as I just want to do whats best for the party. Currently the party is: a wizard, a warlock, a rogue, a fighter and--if they decide to play--a ranger and a paladin. I don't really know what to choose, we just got the PHB2 and I think I might use something from there but any suggestions would be a big help. |

The extra attacks you can grant your strikers and defenders will come in handy. However if you want something from PHBII than the bard might be up your alley. You can force marks (good for your defenders) and your restfull song can heal the intire group at once. Cleric isn't necessary seeing as you (might) have a paladin. Shaman could be good but requires your ally's to be near (if not adjancent to) your spirt companion and with so many allies that is unlikly. Hope this helps |

Currently the party is: a wizard, a warlock, a rogue, a fighter and--if they decide to play--a ranger and a paladin. If you actually have six other players, then the best choice for maximising everyone else's fun is not to play. Seven is too many. That aside, the party needs a leader-type, for healing and buffing. With that many players on the field, Warlords will kick some serious buttock, so take one of them. It might help teach your DM a lesson about how too many players can affect class balance. |
| #4NovacatJul 24, 2009 1:07:44 | I've gotta recommend Warlord, but with the caveat that I'm extremely bias toward Warlords. They're my favorite class, and I think there's basically no party that should go without a Warlord. |
| #5koukJul 24, 2009 2:15:01 | Meh, I like Clerics in this case. Sure a Warlord might pump out even more damage, but then fights are over in one round :P A Cleric stands the best chance of keeping those damage-happy crazies alive. |

Versatile in choosing melee versus non-melee attacks, so you can get out of the way if things get too crowded in combat. Oh yeah, and the spectacular pooling of the party's healing surges never hurts ![]() |

They're my favorite class, and I think there's basically no party that should go without a Warlord. I'm generally the same way with Bards. I honestly think they're the best leader in the game, overall. With that large a group, I'd personally make a frontline bard, and go kick some ass. Couple of nice options for giving your other frontliners free healing when they hit a target, still have the words, lots of out of combat healing for inbetween battles, and they're just really fun to play. |
| #9notusJul 25, 2009 11:52:45 | Well the four characters I mentionned first are the only definite players, the other two play once every so often, I didn't make that quite clear. And yeah I think we need healing as a 5 person level 6 party near enough died against a single green dragon (with backup from 6 rabble units). So yeah, I'll read into leader rolls and try and find one that I like, probably warlord or artificer actually, I'm quite fond of both and I have no idea why. |
