Feb 09, 2009 11:31:36 So here I was, thinking I might make a spellcaster in 3.5.

I entered EMA's Character Sheets, as I always do, to make a spell sheet, seeing as there is noone else who has such a complete listing of spells and powers invented in the D&D world.

But to my great shock, EMA's has been asked to stop the site by Wizards!

So I ask you, Wizards, where do you propose I go to get a complete spell-list for my spell-casters, preferably with the options to remove all spells the character can't cast due to alignment issues?

Because if you think I am going to write down all the spells a wizard can cast by hand, you can forget it. You may just have caused me to never play a spell-caster again.

So this is my thank you for removing the best online tool me and my friends had to play your game to the fullest.

Feb 09, 2009 21:07:09 Once I played a spellcaster and I opened up a text editing program and typed out my spells that my caster knew. Then I printed it. When I learned new spells, I typed them in. Then I printed the new list.

Ema's site was selling stuff Wizards of the Coast had copyright to. That's quite very illegal. Ema killed his own utility by overreaching. Google 3.5 character sheet and stop being such a sook.

Feb 11, 2009 20:46:11 -Go through the other books and list those spells you want, like everyone else has been doing for plenty of time. I agree, though, that a "master list" maintained by WotC would have been nice.

You can do some powerful searches on every SRD anything at the first. The second has THE BEST 3.5 spellsheets EVER. Every class, every spell/power. I never make a 3.5 caster without them.

Wizards has once again stepped all over its customers. You don't that psycho George Lucas going to every "Nerd-Con" suing people in the booths for selling homemade leather/clay mugs with a lightsabre on it... and George is crazy when it comes to suing people. Wizards has officially stepped beyond crazy.

Simply asking ema to take the 4e stuff off would've sufficed, but instead you had to crush the hearts of 1000's of players who now hate your product line because you have no heart for your customers.

I'm thankful that some systems out there can get it right when a new edition comes out. I'm thankful that after almost 20 years of playing RPG's that there is user created content. And i'm thankful that the only thing Ema did was ask for donations for writing the insane amounts of code it took to put that site together, not for the material that the code referenced.

Ema didn't make a living off that site, especially for all the hard work he put into it. He made that site for the ease and comfort of us, the human being players who have attitudes and enjoy things based on how fun they are. Ease of use make them more fun, he made it easier to use your product line. You sold the rights to some sub-branch and claimed liability against it. Talk about crying shenanigans at cement filled milk bottles... its expected my ex-friends.

You are now losing dominance in the RPG markets. The recession draws the strings tight. Your making a play for some MMORPG that you think will revolutionize your product line, and you're finding out you don't have the developement team to make something pleasing enough (visually/interactively) for long term exposure to the customer. Surprise, your not blizzard and you dropped the ball.

Have fun, the birds are circling, and all you can do is somehow tap nails into your own coffin.

Ema got sued for asking for money in recompense (the fact that it was optional is only semi-relevant). They took the site down in response. Get over it. There are other options out there, you just need to look for them.
