| #1RoguemagusJul 26, 2009 17:05:20 | So the (potential) first meeting of my new campaign meets tomorrow evening. I've had trouble deciding on a character, so I guess I'll ask the forums for their advice. I've narrowed it down to three characters: 1. Dragonborn Valorous Bard. He uses a longsword and is very hammy. His goal is to become a great hero. 2. Dwarven Wrathful Invoker. A fire-and-brimstone preacher of Bahamut, he is adventuring with the party to dispense divine justice. 3. Dwarven Earth Warden. He wants to open up a mining enterprise. If you want any more information, just ask! |

| #3silent_stoneJul 26, 2009 17:20:39 | I agree with Lugubrious: a dwarf invoker of Bahamut sounds like fun, especially if you play him like a tent preacher, quoting the holy texts of the Platinum Dragon chapter-and-verse. |
| #4LordManshoonJul 26, 2009 17:29:34 | I agree with the above two posters. The invoker sounds the most interesting. However, I do think your party make-up is crucial. It wouldn't do to have gaping vulnerabilities in your party's quality, unless the lot of you were willing to work around them for roleplaying's sake. Neither the bard nor the warden jump out at me, but then again they've only been given a one line description. |

He'll often search for would-be workers (Xorns, galeb duhrs, and the like) who are down on their luck. The bard can simply be described as Wrong Genre Savvy. |

From what I know about wardens, they just don't jump out as anything phenomenal. And the less said about nature's great joke (and I don't mean bards), the better. |
| #7Seeker95Jul 27, 2009 7:14:58 | Dwarven Invoker by default. I am not a fan of hams in my RPGs (because they tend to be played by real life hams) and I don't find economic enterprise efforts to be all that appealing in D&D. |

| #9RoguemagusJul 28, 2009 12:20:02 | Well, as it turned out, the party was small and already had a controller, so I ended up with the Bard. But based on your advice, I changed him from a ham into just an enthusiastic guy who refers to narrative on occasion. I'm really having a great time playing a leader. Sorry to let you guys down like that, though. |
