Choosing a Druid's Prestige Class

Hello everyone, just had a couple questions regarding prestige classes.  When should I start preparing for them (stat wise) and which one can I pick for a druid? I've looked at some of the possibilities and none of them really jumped out at me. They seemed like things my druid wouldn't actually be interested in. A lot of people were saying that Druid was a good enough class to not go prestige too.

My DM has given me permission to make my own prestige class for my character and I had a couple of ideas and was thinking of incorporating aspects of other prestige classes into them.

In-game there are a couple things that could prompt her into considering some of these ideals/powers:

1. She's befriended a Necromancer who reminded her that death was just as natural a thing as life. She'd want to be able to handle the land and nature in such a way. (ie: growing plants, decaying them, recycling the soil, changing terrain) So I was thinking of a Blighter like class for this but defiinitely not as evil/destructive. My druid has already handled the Necromancer's undead and the idea of an undead animal companion is not a turn-off.

So a class that's kinda like that but is also a part of nature, only more dark, poison-like, negative energy, swampy, rotted type deal.

2. She's recently made contact with a long-lost deity called the Wild Mage. His domain is in a plane called the Chaos Realm. He's set her with the task of locating and freeing the "true" Chaos. It's a crystal that is basically the driving power behind the realm. Few people believed her when she said he contacted her but recently the Wild Mage had shown signs of activity and that changed. The party travels to the Chaos Realm often and lots of the plot takes place there as well. A Hierophant might be acceptable for this path but I don't know how to use Chaos in a class-like manner...

3. There was some kind of Fae prestige class I saw briefly and that one looked interesting, as my elf does have Fae Heritage. If this was mixed into number 2 somehow that be cool too because her grandmother (who she got her Fae Heritage from) is a High Priestess for the Wild Mage. There was also that master wildshape class, but it looked a little bland.

Druids basically only have one prestige class that makes them stronger. planar shepard. Everything else makes them weaker.

Blighter makes you really really worse.

From your descriptions and tendancies, I would'nt prestige class. Straight druid is probably fine.

Waaait... make your own.

The core things druid advances are wildshape/casting/companion. You don't want to take a prestige that doesn't advance all 3 unless its awesome (planar shepard).

From your description, you want some sort of dark chaos fey, right?

How about this

BAB = Poor

Saves = Good Will

HD = D8

Skills = 2+Int, Same list as druid + Know the planes

Spells = You gain full spellcasting at every level.

Prereqs - CL 5, Animal companion

Features

Level 1

  • Fey Companion - You gain a fey companion in place of your animal companion. Choose any fey with a CR=your HD. Its your buddy and functions in all ways like a druids companion. Your levels in this class stack with a druids for gaining abilities.
  • Chaos Infusion - You can be chaotic alignment without it messing up being a druid in any way.

Level 2

  • Fey Traits - You become more fey like. You gain low light vision, and the ability to use charm person as an SLA 1/day DC = 10 + Cha mod and CL = your HD.

Level 3

  •  Fey shape - You can wildshape into fey in addition to other types.
  • +1 Wildshape per day

Level 4

  • Chaos Magic - Everytime you cast a spell you can choose to subtract 3 from your CL. If you do, add 1d6 to your  CL. This can put your CL higher than it would otherwise be.

Level 5

  • Fey Traits - Even more fey like, you grow little fey wings that allow you to fly with a base speed of 30ft (good)

Level 6

  • Wildshape Tiny - You can wildshape into tiny size
  • +1 Wildshape per day

Level 7

  • Fey Traits - You gain DR 10/cold iron

Level 8

  • Chaos Magic - 1/day per point of Cha mod you can use Chaos Magic without subtracting the -3.

Level 9

  • +1 wildshape per day

Level 10

  • Fey Transformation - You gain the fey type in addition to your own. You can choose to be fey or your original type at any time, whichever is to your benefit.

Not so dark, but pretty much chaos fey on the other parts, right? Could be dark depending on your companion.
