| #1fenrir7139Oct 04, 2008 19:50:23 | Hello, fellow forumites! This thread is a companion piece to my other thread, Stat Cards for the Races! In this thread, I'm going to post links to MegaUpload.com, which will allow you to download Zip Files that contain .JPEGs of all of the Powers for your class, and it's Paragon Paths/Epic Destinies. Originally, I had planned to post each and every image on this thread, but that took forever. Instead, I'm doing this. So there. I will leave the other cards up, though, so feel free to take them and use them as you will. |
| #2fenrir7139Oct 04, 2008 19:55:24 | Okay, then! First up: Fighters! |

| #13vestaxOct 05, 2008 5:20:04 | Really great idea! im suprised WOTC hasn't done this. Im guessing kinko's can print these out on nice little cards? |
| #14gwynn_dupOct 05, 2008 5:45:52 | Great work, these look really good. I hope you continue with them. My cleric is probably gaining level 2 next week so I'll need those utility cards ![]() I noticed the Fighter power Thicket of blades has a white mana symbol instead of the W. |

Thanks, Gwynn, I'll fix that as soon as I can! And your Level 2 Cleric powers will be here soon, as well! Do you have any idea how incredibly cool these are they are the MOST useful thing I could find on the forums for the game I just have to figure out how to print them double sided. Thanks, Aldoth! As for printing them double sided... sorry, can't help ya there. Really great idea! I’m surprised WOTC hasn't done this. I’m guessing kinko's can print these out on nice little cards? I think Wizards was thinking about doing it, but until then, you've got me! As for Kinko's... I'm not sure, I've never done anything like that before; if it works, please tell me! |
| #16fenrir7139Oct 05, 2008 12:08:24 | Well, Gwynn, I finally got around to making your Utility cards, so, here ya go! |

| #31entropy_judgeOct 06, 2008 6:09:21 | You know, the fact that I'm going through all this work and no one is willing to critique me really makes me a sad panda... Hey, don't feel sad! Have a I think it's a great idea; I just don't come here very often so I don't see things every other day. I like the idea of putting the descriptions on the picture ... one question about that: I don't play 4E (and don't plan on it) so I'm not going to be seeing the books anytime soon, but do they have different pictures of the classes, or for some of the abilities? Using the same picture lets you sort out the abilities you need (say, if you're a DM and running a couple of characters), but if you're a PC and only running one character, it might be a bit easier if you used a different picture each for Utilities, Dailies, and Encounters. Of course, that is *a lot* of extra work, so I can see not wanting to customize them that way.I think Wizards was thinking about doing it, but until then, you've got me! If they are, they're probably just going to be Indexed ability cards, not something like what you're doing. Have a ![]() |

YAY! I GOT A CHICKEN AND A COOKIE!!!! :D ... Ahem.... Anyway... Yeah, it makes sense to get different pictures, but... I'm lazy. Sill, on the upside, I'm going to have different pictures for each Tier of Play (the Tiers are Heroic, which is levels 1-10, Paragon - 11-20, and Epic - 21-30, respectivily). |

| #38iamajackalopeOct 06, 2008 11:04:19 | These all look fantastic and seem incredibly useful. My only suggestion is that instead of writing the flavor text on the backs of the class cards it would be more helpful if you wrote the class features on the backs. Such as the Rogue's Sneak Attack, the Cleric's Healing Word, the fighter's Mark, etc. |
| #39fenrir7139Oct 06, 2008 19:53:49 | That's a great idea! I think I'll do that! |

You don't need to bother printing them out double-sided, just print them out and fold between the front/back. Slip them into some clear sleeves and it's all good. |
| #64fenrir7139Oct 11, 2008 22:15:29 | You don't need to bother printing them out double-sided, just print them out and fold between the front/back. Slip them into some clear sleeves and it's all good. Good idea, Psynister; the only thing that would effect this negatively is that the sides are seperate images; still, I suppose you could just paste them into word or paint or something to combine them; still, it should work quite well. |
| #65lord_psynisterOct 11, 2008 22:20:14 | Good idea, Psynister; the only thing that would effect this negatively is that the sides are seperate images; still, I suppose you could just paste them into word or paint or something to combine them; still, it should work quite well. Oh, I missed the fact that they were separate since they actually look like they're the same. Hmm, have you considered throwing all of these into a pdf to make them easier to access (and save time on the pages loading here)? |
| #66fenrir7139Oct 11, 2008 22:28:05 | That's probably a good idea; I think I'll start on that later tonight (I'm hoping GIMP has a "save to PDF" option). If GIMP doesn't work, I'll just find a program that does; still, you're right it would be a hell ofa lot easier. |
| #67lord_psynisterOct 11, 2008 23:13:59 | Where can I get my hands on GIMP? |
| #68fenrir7139Oct 11, 2008 23:26:29 | You can find it here, good chum. :D |
| #69lord_psynisterOct 12, 2008 0:35:26 | That's an incredibly odd GUI. Three separate windows? Hmm, well perhaps I can find some tutorials on how to use it in the next day or so and see what I can do with it. Just to (re)state the facts here though, I think you've done a heck of a job. Are you planning on tackling the Monster Manual as well? I've been thinking for a while that I would really like to go ahead and make just about everything into cards (weapons, armor, magic enhancements, etc). As I said, some of my players have a hard time remembering what they've got if they don't have a visual representation of it other that something that's written down. If I can lay everything out for them (literally), and have them throw down the items they're using, the powers used with them, see the monsters they face, and so forth, then I think they can really enjoy the game more and not feel like they're underperforming because they read about an ability they had that could have saved the whole party in that battle they fought last Tuesday... |
| #70fenrir7139Oct 12, 2008 1:43:47 | Well, once I finish the Class Power Cards, I'm moving on to Racial Power Cards, then Paragon paths, then Epic Destinies, ectcetera. I don't think I'll put Monsters on cards for a while (if that's what you were asking), though it is an interesting idea. I've also been planning on making Item Cards and whatnot, though, so once I find a decent program that'll let me convert the cards I have to PDF format, I will begin work on them. And yeah, GIMP's kind of... odd. Still, it's a hell of a lot more powerful than Paint (usually), and I can't afford Photoshop, so I think it's just dandy. :P |
| #71lord_psynisterOct 12, 2008 2:03:18 | My initial thought on the monsters was that it would be cool to have all of the monster stats on a card, and then I thought about how much info that would be to cram onto it. Probably not the best idea, but one worth looking at later on down the road. I would suggest you make several PDF's once you've got a program that will let you do it though. All the races in one, then an individual one for each class, maybe a single file for all paragons since they're fairly small, and then the items could be broken down into groups. That will make it easier for people to download what they do need without bothering with what they don't, and it keeps everything organized a little bit better as well. Just a suggestion though. |
| #72fenrir7139Oct 12, 2008 16:52:44 | Makes sense, thanks Psynister. I have yet to find a decent program, though... If anyone has any advice, please drop me a line! |
| #73lord_psynisterOct 12, 2008 20:25:19 | Here's a free pdf program. Don't know how good it is, but it was recommended to me: http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp |
| #74fenrir7139Oct 12, 2008 21:34:17 | Thanks, man! I owe you one. EDIT: As it turns out, it's no good; what think I'm going to do, is put all of the cards into ZIP format, and just put them on Megaupload or something. |
| #75fenrir7139Oct 12, 2008 22:18:00 | All right, here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to rework the layout of the cards; not much, but they'll be a bit different from the cards on here all ready. I'm going to work on them for every level, meaning the wait time between classes being available will increase. However, after I finish a class, I'll put it in a Zip file, and post it on here. When I finish with all of the classes of a certain power source, I'll compile them into a single File for those that wish to download all of them at once. I'm goingto be working on the classes in alphabetical order; that means it'll go Artificer, it's Paragon Paths/Epic Destinies, then Barbarian, and so on. When I finish with all of the class-related PPs and EDs, I'll work on the others. Then, I'll work on racial powers, before moving on to Item cards, and, possbly, Monster Cards. ... Damn. I hope that Character Builder doesn't come out before I'm done, or i'll be ******! ![]() |
| #76lord_psynisterOct 12, 2008 22:44:32 | Well, I was going to say - "keep doing what you're doing, and we'll call it even!" But, since it doesn't work, it looks like I'm still in the hole. When I sent out the request for suggetions, it was mentioned that you can get a trial version of Adobe Acrobat that will let you do it for 30 days, but I haven't had time to verify that one. |
| #77fenrir7139Oct 13, 2008 0:16:29 | Hmmm... Well, I'll have to finish the Cards first, then, so that I don't waste the free subscription. I'll do my plan detailed above until then, though, so people aren't completely left out (and so that this thread doesn't drop to the bottom of the list due to lack of updates and what have you). |
| #78fenrir7139Oct 13, 2008 12:59:46 | I uploaded the Artificer Power Cards; levels 1-30! Woo Hoo! |
| #79fenrir7139Oct 13, 2008 15:52:45 | The Barbarian Class is Uploaded! It also has the "Frenzied Berserker" Paragon Path, as well! |
| #80fenrir7139Oct 21, 2008 7:11:44 | I've uploaded the Cleric Class, as well as its Paragon Paths. As soon as I finish the Paladin Powers and Paragon Paths, I'll upload the "Channel Divinity" Powers, and the various "Any Divine Class" Paragon Paths. |
| #81lord_psynisterOct 21, 2008 7:26:09 | Sounds good to me. |
| #82fenrir7139Oct 21, 2008 17:21:30 | Woo Hoo! Psynister's back! Anyway, I'm currently working on the Fighter Class; hopefully, I'll have the Heroic Tier finished today. |
| #83twonineOct 24, 2008 13:53:36 | Hi Fenrir, I just wanted to say I love what you're doing with these cards. I am brand new to D&D, having started playing last month, so I had been looking for a better set of power cards. These look great. One of my friends (who is waiting for the Wizard class cards) did something similar, but used the artwork from the magic cards to depict each of his spells. I may try that, so each card has a unique image. Keep it up! |
| #84lord_psynisterOct 24, 2008 20:10:47 | Using the MtG layout was my original idea for going after them myself, but I hate the idea of having to go with a microscopic font to get some of the abilities printed out on 1/2 of a card. I do really like the idea of having different pictures of each one, but I also like the idea of having all of the cards from one class having the same back like Fenrir is doing now. I think overall he's got the best setup going right now. It would be cool if we had individual pictures for each, but it's not necessary and there's a lot of info to squeeze onto half a card that way too. |
| #85twonineOct 24, 2008 21:09:21 | Yeah, my friend did it the classic MtG style, with the image, technical info, and flavor text all on the one side of the card, and cramped is an understatement. What I meant was to leave the info side of the card the same. Then, when I use a power, I flip it over to reveal the cool power-specific image and read the flavor text, then leave it flipped over so I know which powers have been used. So the layout is exactly as Fenrir has em. Just the images are swapped to represent the power being used. |
| #86lord_psynisterOct 24, 2008 21:16:02 | Yeah, I get what you're saying there. But I do like the idea of having the same back on all of them for the sake of organization. It's easier to know, in case you get a couple of piles mixed up, that "these" are clearly the fighter stack, and "those" are clearly the wizard stack, and so forth. It's not really a big deal either way, I just happen to be an oganization freak. |
| #87twonineOct 24, 2008 21:26:28 | Yeah I see what you're saying there. That sort of thing never occurred to me since I only have the one character at this point. Perhaps you could get the best of both methods by incorporating MtG's set icons into the design, so that Ranger cards have the lorwyn symbol, and Rogues have the Shadowmoor symbol etc. |
| #88fenrir7139Oct 25, 2008 3:21:29 | Yeah I see what you're saying there. That sort of thing never occurred to me since I only have the one character at this point. While I thank both you and Psynister for your kind words, TwoNine, there's a problem here... What the hell's an Iorwyn? ![]() (I don't play Magic) EDIT: Also, the reason I don't have different art for each card is because I can't find a whole lot of it. Where do you find your Magic Card art, TwoNine? |
| #89twonineOct 26, 2008 5:43:58 | I usually go to magiccards.info to look up cards and grab art, but in this case, my friend had already amassed a collection of all the card images. It tops out at around 2 gigs... some 15,000 images or so. Crazy. About the Lorwyn symbol: ![]() It's the little leaf on the right side of the card. Each set of magic cards has its own unique symbol. i was suggesting to Psynister that using those symbols might help with organization. I've started doing the conversions for my Ranger character. I'll upload a few so you can check em out. |
| #90fenrir7139Oct 26, 2008 16:11:23 | Oh, I see! Interesting; I'll be sure to check that out... Once I can get a break from work. Even right now, I've only got about fifteen minutes before I have to go back. |
| #91lord_psynisterNov 04, 2008 19:23:51 | Wonder why I'm not receiving emails when this thread is updated... I get what you're saying with the symbols. I played magic for about 9 years before it got too ridiculously expensive (aka too many sets/year) to bother with trying to keep up with it. That still leaves us with the problem of abilities that have lengthy text though. Moving on to the back of the card doesn't appeal to me at all, and I'd really rather not go with a simple shrinking of the font size. It's not going to be a frequent problem, but there are going to be more than just a handful that would take more area than you've got to work with. |
| #92fenrir7139Nov 05, 2008 14:49:39 | Wonder why I'm not receiving emails when this thread is updated... Yeah, that will suck; if it gets too ridiculous, though, I'll just shorten it up a bit. Also, I'm almost done with the fighter; I just haven't had time lately; still, I'm in the epic tier now, AND each card has a different picture! Most are from that magiccards.info site TwoNine mentioned, but a few are from Deviantart. |
| #93lord_psynisterNov 05, 2008 18:03:07 | Sweet. I like where you're going with this, Fenrir. Keep it up. |
| #94fenrir7139Nov 06, 2008 23:27:05 | I've almost finished the Fighter cards; I'm on Paragon Paths, now, and I'm using more art from Deviantart than from magiccards.info, mainly because the MC.I art is kind of small and grainy; I'll probably start doing that with all powers, and I may update the other fighter cards. Anyway, see ya'll next time! P.S. And thanks, Psynister. |
| #95falstyrNov 07, 2008 4:56:48 | These cards are making life a lot easier for me. Thanks a lot for that. Any idea when to expect the zip files for the other classes then the three currently available? As for monsters...I don't really see how that could be done unless you always play with unmodified versions of it. |
| #96Dane_McArdyNov 07, 2008 6:48:54 | Really great idea! im suprised WOTC hasn't done this. Im guessing kinko's can print these out on nice little cards? They have actually, you just have to pay for it. Part of the character builder they will be releasing will give you a sheet of the powers you picked, and if I'm reading correctly, will be figured out for your specific character. Up to level 3 right now. |
| #97RilsNov 07, 2008 11:29:49 | I've almost finished the Fighter cards; I'm on Paragon Paths, now, and I'm using more art from Deviantart than from magiccards.info, mainly because the MC.I art is kind of small and grainy; Just out of curiosity, how are you finding good art on Deviantart? I spent a couple hours there last night, and couldn't find a single useable piece of fantasy art for the group cards I'm making... I've had way better luck sifting through the magiccards.info archives. What kind of searches are you using on DA, or where are you looking? |

| #102nytmareNov 10, 2008 8:22:30 | Oof, sorry guys. We've been hammering these out over at Enworld since March. Maybe there are some ideas over there that you can beg, borrow, and steal to mix into your own sets. |
