#2 salla Aug 13, 2011 21:26:48	I was in a game not long ago that had the potential for an interesting conversation.  Another player and I were both playing Changelings, but mine didn't assume a guise; she was walking around in her native form, while his was disguised as a human.  He asked me why I didn't conceal myself; after all, Changelings hide because nobody trusts them. I responded that I believed the inverse was true; nobody trusts Changelings because they hide. This could have spiralled off into a really deep philosophical debate, but he just said 'Oh, okay' and we moved on.  I'd like to believe that he didn't want to discuss Changeling philosophy for fear that he'd blow his cover, but more likely ... he just didn't think about it that much.
#3 cyrusasha Aug 13, 2011 23:53:53	I had a philosophical conversation once it didn't go far, the fm was the leader of the paladins in the current world, I was feeling bad for killing off 2 demons that were killing people, the reason was we later found out their child had been kidnapped I went to the leader and asked him "sir if we are our good and our enemies are evil does that not make us evil to them in Their eyes we kill them without them knowing why we slaughter droves of them almost to extinction so aren't we in fact evil too?" His response "no were not evil because were paladins no go kill go protect people"
#4 jetshield Aug 13, 2011 23:58:37	I play with a group of extremely heavy role-players, so interesting in-character conversations are a regular occurrence. I'd be hard-pressed to pick just one as the most interesting, but the most unexpected was one I posted about a while back in the "What's a DM to Do" forum. Maybe I'll try to track it down and link it sometime, or maybe not.
#5 oxybe Aug 14, 2011 9:51:26	NPC: "what is your reason for fighting?" Shump : "all my favorite stuff is there."  Not because there are people he cares about or because it's the right thing. Shump flatly states he saves the world because his stuff is there and doesn't trust anyone else to not screw the pootch.
#6 tsenzori Aug 14, 2011 17:25:02	I have had a conversation between my Chaotic Good Elf (Sorc), a Chaotic Good Thief (masquerading as a ranger...go figure) and a Neutral good cleric. Whereby we had to decide after saving an NPC whether to take it with us, send it home or kill it. Now, this conversation ended up being a war of words between the cleric and the Sorc where we were contesting the meaning of life. My character walked away believing that he was a frog. (Failed an intelligence check dammit).
#7 warrl Aug 16, 2011 21:29:37	One of my wife's Changeling (the World of Darkness version) characters of the Unseelie Court was once recruited by a Changeling of the Shadow Court. The recruiting attempt failed: "You want to destroy the world that MY BOOKSTORE is in? Where do you expect me to find customers?"
#8 Rahva Aug 23, 2011 13:06:09	I've had a session where the party was in a tomb. There were two doors, a gold one to the King's tomb, a silver one to the Queen's tomb. I had a whole thing set up with undead and a conspiracy... So the rogue says "Wow fancy doors, I wonder what else is inside..." To which the swashbuckler goes "You know know what, I bet those doors themselves are worth quite a bit." They took the doors off the hinges, had them melted down and sold them, never to return to the tomb. Argh ;)

#13 blueblazer Sep 20, 2011 15:59:15	I won't attempt to write out the conversation, but two (male) players' characters who were separated (scouting) from the party put extensive planning into how best to look up the skirt of the high charisma airwalking cleric (female player).  A room was scouted (with rat swarms), debates were had over where to stand and how to optimise bluff checks (they didn't want to get caught) even to the point of being willing to stand in the middle of a rat swarm so as to better sneak-a-peak.  Finally they're ready, they tell the group about the rats and take their positions and the party rushes into the room.  Initiative is rolled, as are bluffs and perceptions... at which point the female player reminds the group "I'm playing a dude."  Both players, with no prompting whatsoever from me, roll saves.  One decides his character is nauseated.  The other decides his bard is, from now on, bisexual.  In addition to roleplaying XP, the cleric got to rewrite a spell (Turn Undead/Bard).
