So how important are the three new core books because if the players handbook is now a hybrid of phb and dmg while the dmg just has stuff like how to make npc's. What i'm saying is if I were to just buy lets say one or two of the three which would yall recomend.

Thank yah in advanced!

Not having seen any of them, I'd say that would be a tough call. If they stick to the 3.x content divisions, though, I would recommend the PHB and Monster Manual. Those two should be enough to get you going.

I'm assuming that you are asking as a player. If so, PHB and DMG are the top two I would get if limited to two books. PHB for obvious reasons, and DMG because it has more useful information to a player than the MM, info used for playing non-standard races aside. Unlike 3.5, you can easily get away with just a PHB, though, and a DMG isn't even needed by a player in almost any case you can think of.

It'll be a big improvement if the PHB really contains all the information necessary for players. I found it really annoying that players basically needed to buy the DMG in 3.x.

Assuming you're a player-and not intent on being a DM-I would profer that the PHB is all you need. IMO, I wouldn't suggest purchasing the Monster Manual because that would ruin the surprise of encountering the "monsters" for the first time. For me, it's no fun knowing what monsters' abilities and strategies are, before my PC attacks them-unless my PC learns that information in-game.

As a player, you don't need anything out of the Monster Manual or Dungeon Master's Guide. There's no summoning monsters or wild shaping into animals. All the magic items, and rules for creating characters above 1st level, are in the Player's Handbook where they belong.

If you're a DM, though, I'd recommend the DMG over the MM. The DMG has lots of useful encounter-building advice, as well as how to make your own monsters. It'll feel a bit bland without all the racial powers from the MM, but it'll be a smoother gameplay experience, I think.
