The one I can think of off my head is a paladin/warlock, who defends his allies with debuffs rather than be a damage sponge. If anybody knows of others I would love to hear about them, any way that you can use 4e conventions to accomplish ultimately the same goal, but in a more interesting manner |

The guy has max CON, which means for right now he is tough as bricks (really, this dwarf has to be attacked by the entire enemy force, and get hit by friendly AoE to go down), but his hitting is behind the curve, except for his warlock powers (which compliment being a defender well). In paragon things will pick up. I also play with a dwarf warlod/wizard, which works surprisingly well. His INT is lacking for wizard attacks, but scorching burst is great, and allows him to open places up for the rest of the party to charge in (leadering). |

His AC can skyrocket up to something ridiculous in the 20s at lvl 1, and it only gets more crazy and sustainable as he levels up. He has no strength but is taking all Cha based attacks and plans to fully MC to rogue in paragon levels to get some rogue powers as well. He might not do much damage yet, but he can certainly tank. My personal contribution is my (munchkiny) Bardbarian. Couple levels of Bard, couple levels of barbarian, toss in some rogue every now and then, and you end up with an angry man who sneaks up behind everything, stabs them in the back with a great axe, and then bursts into awesome song. I love that guy. |
