| #1Diana15Feb 01, 2015 21:23:43 | Hi guys!
I hope this is in the right place - I'm brand new to the forums and only been seriously playing D&D for a little over a year. My DM is an absolute genius. He's creative. He's fun. He's absolutely insane. He's brilliant. I wish every DM was like him.
But he also can be very difficult to play for.
I lack his genius thinking. In fact, I'm not that great at critical thinking at all, I confess. He is running two campaigns with my group and I and I am playing two characters in each campaign....and all of them are spellcasters, because I'm a glutton for punishment.
I have a level 5 psionicist, a level 1 wizard, a level 1 druid, and a level 5 cleric. My problem is that even though I have all these spellcasters, I wind up playing all of them as melee fighters because I'm not sure what to do with my spells beyond their obvious uses. Please don't laugh at me for it, I'm still somewhat new to D&D (I think) and lack the years of knowledge that my DM and at least one of the other players has.
What I'd like to do is list the spells I have for my psionicist first and get help with him. He's my best, my first, and my favorite character. I can go character by character so I don't dump everything on everyone all at once. I'd ultimately like help with all of them but my psionicist first.
He's a level 5 psionicist. He's true neutral though he's swinging a LOT. He's been swinging a little more evil (think Anakin Skywalker, going all dark side to protect the one he loves) after he and the one he loved died and were resurrected.
We are using the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition Players's Handbook Rules Supplement: The Complete Psionics Handbook. These are his spells:
Discipline: Telepathy Sciences: Mindlink, Probe Devotions: Contact, ESP, False Sensory Input, Life Detection, Mind Bar, Psychic Impersonation, Send Thoughts Attacks: Ego Whip, Psychic Crush Defenses: Tower of Iron Will, Intellect Fortress, Mind Blank
Discipline: Psychokinesis Sciences: Telekinesis Devotions: Levitation, Molecular Agitation, Soften
I just need ideas for how to use all of these things effectively. I can tell you I use contact, send thoughts, and ESP for telepathic communication, Psychic Crush as his main attack (and it seems to stun people but they still manage to attack us in the same round), Molecular Agitation to set people (and things) on fire (though again, we've been running into a ton of magic-users that resist that spell to the point of it almost being useless), and Probe to try and get information (though we can't seem to get a hold of the head honcho - we keep getting peons that know nothing). Levitation has saved his life and helped him lift an important artifact out of reach.
I would love some help so I can stop feeling like an idiot when I play. Thank you so much. |
