Later we found out he being controlled by mindflayers, so if we killed the mindflayer he would be free. But, instead with our new charcters we killed him.... I'm sad to say it was enjoyable! :D |

| #3Crimson_ConcertoOct 14, 2008 20:48:05 | . . . Wow, your DM sucks. I'm so sorry. ![]() |
| #4itarakoturoOct 14, 2008 20:52:04 | Get a new DM. |
| #5DKaseOct 15, 2008 1:09:33 | Seriously, who does this? Was there any indication at all that something was up or anything? |
| #6Seeker95Oct 15, 2008 7:48:05 | Another player's PC killed the party. And the rest of the players then created new characters and killed the rogue PC. And enjoyed it. And you folks are saying the DM sucks? |
| #7Johnathan_VagabondOct 15, 2008 14:25:28 | Another player's PC killed the party. Seeing as how the DM said the PC was controlled by mind flayers, I'd have to say yeah, the DM sucks. |
| #8johnthedm7000Oct 15, 2008 18:25:11 | Assuming that the DM just plopped that into the campaign with no way for the P.C's to know, and with no subtle hints about mindflayers, then yes I'd agree that the DM did a bad job-it's illogical and un-fun. However, if the party recently went up against mindflayers and and the rogue was dragged off by one of them during the fight, and then came back a little bit dazed looking-simply saying "I'm fine" when asked what happened and otherwise not acting like himself. (and the DM worked with the PC in question to outline the motives of the mindflayers to have the PC killing another PC within their plot) then that'd be a natural outgrowth of the fight-a PC get's dominated and becomes a mole. Likewise, did the DM give the PC an additional saving throw to shake off the domination when he was commanded by the mindflayer in question to kill off his adventuring comrades? While it certainly smacks of bad DM'ing, it depends on how it was handled. Just randomly conspiring with a player to kill off another PC and then saying "mindflayers did it" when asked why, when there were no mindflayers involved in any stage of the campaign is horrible DM'ing though-and if that's what happend I'm really sorry. Also, I have to ask-was there a story reason for why the new party members killed the dominated PC (such as uncovering that the PC was a murderer but not knowing his will was not his own, or seeking to cleanse the influence of abberations on the mortal realm) or was it just for out of game revenge? Because like another poster said, if that's the case then I think a bad DM is the least of your gaming group's problems. |
| #9DukeLukeofSevOct 15, 2008 18:52:04 | We killed him because we decided to make all of our party's characters relatives of the original ones. So they knew he did it. The DM had the player see if he wanted to lay the role and he did. Now he is dead :D |
