So do ranged people get to add their dex mod to the damage? It doesn't really seem to say, and the str mod is hard enough to find (or at least I had problems finding it).

Page 287 of the PHB, the damage for a ranged basic attack is 1[w]+Dex damage

Specific powers will specify what you do or do not add for damage... just like melee. There is no default +str for melee and +dex for ranged anymore.

..
A basic attack with a melee weapon is always a Strength attack. A basic attack with a ranged weapon is usually a Dexterity attack, unless the weapon you’re using has the heavy thrown property (see “Weapon Properties”).

Yeah, p. 287 says it for ranged basic attack. It was hard for me to find it until I just flipped through. Then I realized I had starterd a thread and checked on it

a str attack or dex attack or cha attack doesn't say squat for damage though, that just means that's the mod you use for your attack roll vs. whatever defense.

Thanks for the feedback folks! Now if I can just figure out why giants and other monsters don't get that +21 on their str. modifier for damage....

The +21 isn't their strength modifier, it's their strength check modifier (ie, strength mod plus 1/2 level). It's there for ease of use in case you need a monster to make a skill check or ability check.

That explains it! Thanks! I have to wait to run my game for a couple of weeks, but I think those are the only two things sticking out for me. I'm sure I'll run accross more as I play though.
