Does a weapons size effect its reach?

So if I have a character who is Large and he has the Monkey Fist feat allowing him to wield a Huge weapon. Does that extend the range? It seems like a longer blade should increase the range at which you can attack. Also what if he wields a gargantuan weapon and takes the minus to attack? I would think a weapon being that much larger than your normal weapon would give you some bonus to range...

I am going to assume this question is for D&D 3.5 since system wasn't mentioned and Monkey Grip(Fist) was the poster child of abused feats in 3.0.

Reach is a property of the creature, not the weapon.  So Monkey fist by itself doesn't do it in 3.5.  The reason it doesn't was to fix an exploit in 3.0 where large folks with gargantuan weapons can attack 20' to 30' out.  Add in whirlwind attack, combat reflexes, great cleave and other tricks and one can really tear up the battlefield.  The reach properties for large weapons were nerfed in favor of damage.

All that said, should your character get to wield a larger weapon for any reason other than a feat, for example, the Enlarge Person spell, a special weapon property, simply being a huge creature and so on, yes the reach increases.

As a DM you can allow Monkey Grip to increase reach anyways (as it did in version 3.0), especially in light of how powerfull spell casters get at higher levels, so the fighter can shine.  Just be prepared for him to be able to reach out and touch someone, especially if the casters buff him with damage and size increasing spells.  Haste on such a character is particularly effective.  For total cheesy goodness, add in all of the above with Improved Invisibility, for with the fighter striking more than a square awa, the attacked/hit creature does not get to pinpoint the square automatically (adjacent square only).

Just remember like bonuses and like power effects don't stack.  That means a spell the simulates Monkey Grip will not stack with the feat.
