| #1darcy_mulderJul 21, 2008 19:00:12 | Hi. My entire group that I play D&D with are brand new to the game. I have decided to make a druid, but everyone is totally confused as to how to make the animal companion. The PH rules are really confusing, and there is no example companion shown. If there is a good site that has a simple step by step instruction manual for animal companion creation I would love to get the link...or if anyone could just post instructions. If it helps I would like a Wolf. Thanks in advance Rock On |

If there is a good site that has a simple step by step instruction manual for animal companion creation I would love to get the link...or if anyone could just post instructions. If it helps I would like a Wolf. First, open the Monster manual or SRD (System Reference Document): Pull the stats of your wolf out (Str, Dex, etc). Now add to the wolf the Druid bonuses (extra tricks, etc). Add Barding (animal armor if you have the money, Leather barding is cheap for example) and add that armor bonus to animal. You only get into non-proficiency issues when you go past Leather (Riding Dogs, Warhorses, and Warponies are trained in armor so no penalties). Name the animal. I think done. What issues did you have? Sidebar notation: If DM is cool without: ask if you can retrain a feat of the animal for another one (but that is if he is okay with it and not all DMs are). |
