These are the stats I rolled. Can go in any Stat nothing defined yet. 10,18,17,17,12,13. I know I want to play a human Fighter. We are playing in an undead campaign. Mostly undead. well. I was wondering what could I do Either looking for gear to help out or build wise to stop from recieving such a hit from there stat damaging abilities. As well as being able to dish out some damage to them.

I mainly just want to play a sword and board Smash um up guy. So there isnt much room for veriation.

Get a tower shield (magical if possible); Undead-Bane for a sword (EWP: Bastard Sword); and pretty much carry potions that heal ability damage.

You are aware of the Paladin, right?

Make sure you tote around both a morningstar and a longsword, for overcoming damage reductions.

If you have access to Heroes of Horror or Libris Mortis, there are some feats that help you out (like Font of Life). They make it easier to resist energy drain and other common undead attacks.

And beef up your Will save. Nothing worse than running afoul of a Vampire Spawn (only CR 3) and being turned against your whole party because of your terrible Will save.

Take a 1 level dip into ranger and grab favored enemy: undead. Heck, make your first level ranger for all those skill points. Also check the multiclassing rules on skills. You don't need to wear light armor to get favored enemy bonuses, btw. There are general tips in my sig, except instead of the usual energy damage weapon enchantments I'd get spell storing (fill with CSW), then undead-bane, then the energy damage enchantments. If you have a lot of long battles or your cleric can't spare the 3rd level spell slots, get undead-bane first and spell-storing 2nd. You picked a good way to go, btw, stick with it.

Stats: str 18, con 17, int 13 (for combat expertise), dex 12, wis 17, cha 10. That last 17 is on wis for will saves & spot/listen, but it could easily go anywhere. So if you want more skill points (int), want to wear medium armor (dex) or w/e, just move it. At level 4 boost con, then boost strength for the rest of the game. With high stats like these you might want to play a paladin instead of a fighter, but I dunno. Weapon spec, etc. is handy.

Best way to avoid paralyzing attacks will probably be AC from your shield/etc. and combat expertise. As for fixing these annoyances after they hit, leave that to the cleric. If you're worried about other saves, it's usually better to boost your offense than your saves (to kill the dangerous baddy faster). Boosting saves either isn't enough or it's too expensive for more than a point or two. Make sure your main weapon or at least a spare one is silver, eventually. Depending on what you're fighting, you might want to make it magical earlier than normal. I mean usually a +1 weapon isn't much better than masterwork, but you might need it to hit some enemies. Or just have the cleric cast greater magic weapon in the morning, or magic weapon during a fight.

Thanks for the info guys. I like it. I really like the Idea of going with a lvl of ranger. I have 5 lvls to work with I believe. So I could get the favored enemy. Sucks that that would be the only real reason to get it. that and skill points. other than that I dont see a good reason to multi with it.

I don't want to go Palidan or Cleric because I don't want to RP that type of person. Ugh just reading over the paladin and having never played one. I think I might give it a try. Might be cool. I'm sure they are really amazing damage dealers to undead right?

The paladin isn't all that impressive at fighting undead, from what I've seen. A cleric 5/master of radiance 5/X 10 (X possibly being Radiant Servant) would do better, but you've mentioned you don't want to use that kind of character. Out of curiosity what bothers you about cleric RP? There's a lot of ways to portray them. Personally I like the powerful warrior, don't proselytize but just lead people to my god by showing them just how awesome I am with his help, sort of cleric. The demented witchdoctor that has no sweet clue what he's doing but strongly believes he's doing it right is another fun one.

I don't know I just don't feel like playing anyone religious. Or have to fallow certain rules or fear of loosing abilities cause I do something wrong. I'm more into a fighter right now. But I'm thinking of paladin cause I have never played one and would be interesting. Especially taking 5 lvls and seeing how it goes. I can then jump to something else and be fairly set. Like possibly going to fighter or cleric.

I'm really leaning towards paladin now though. I'm looking at it and starting to like it. Mainly because of its class abilities. Now I just need to set her up right. with the right placement of stats. I'm not worried to much about spellcasting. I have a friend that will be playing a cleric as well. So I don't need to worry about healing that much. But I do like the idea of being the most cha of the group.

Have a long talk with your DM before you go even one step further. You mentioned you don't want to "have to fallow certain rules or fear of loosing abilities cause I do something wrong". That is the most frequent method of paladin destruction there is. As written in the PHB it's nearly unplayable, the potential fall triggers are too broad and the prohibition is too strict. So please. Talk to your DM, let him know you're thinking about a paladin, and you need specific ground rules for what a paladin may and may not do in his game. Discuss with him how you see the paladin concept, how he sees it, and once you two are both on the same page, get a list of rules for paladins in his game, and get it in writing. After you've got that, take some time to review it, and decide whether you want to be a paladin anymore.

If you do, cool, good luck. But PC paladins... eh... they can get pretty ugly. Definitely talk it over with your DM first.
