Q)This untility states that the The mage spells ignore creatures fire resistance, which is ok, but can anyone tell if it does the same to on going fire damage. As in discussions with my group and I say it doesn't but they say it does. I just need some more information about this untility from other Dm's before making the final decision.

Jul 17, 2012 19:02:22 I can't find that power ... but if it does what you say it does, then yes, ongoing fire damage from a mage spell is fire damage from a mage spell, so it will ignore fire resistance.

Jul 18, 2012 8:47:28 Where's that power from? I've also never heard of it. Assuming you're playing 4e, it's not in the Compendium. The only power that even uses the word "Mistress" (and that one not in the title of the power) is a Warlock power.

So assuming you're okay with 3rd party/homebrew powers, then yeah like Salla said, works just like it says it works.

However, it sounds fairly powerful, and I'm not sure you should allow it.

Jul 18, 2012 11:25:53 Could you perhaps be referring to the Mage's 'Pyromancy Apprentice' feature?

"You gain a +1 bonus to damage rolls with arcane fire attacks. This bonus increases to +2 at 11th level and +3 at 21st level. Additionally, your attacks ignore fire resistance."

Ongoing damage from an attack is part of that attack's effects, so it would still ignore resistance.
