ok, With all the talk about power cards (or the lack thereof) I have made some that you can make on your own. The powers are straight from the PHB made to fit on a standard size business card. The card stock I used you can get at any office supply store (avery model 8371 or 8376) and the layouts are in MS Publisher 2003. All you should have to do is load the file and print. If you want to get fancy, I included a card back just to make em look snazzy. Check em out, If enough people like them I will finish and post the whole series for each class. This is just a sample of the fighter power cards. Its all the level 1 powers and level 2 utility powers. Let me know if you find them useful. here is the link for download.....

oh, and WOTC, gotta say, having been a D&D player since I was 10 (i'm 39 now) I have seen many itterations of D&D come and go. I walked away at 3.5 as I was just disgusted. 4e aroused my curiosity and after both playing and DM'ing sessions, I have to say I really like the system. My newly formed group had great fun and it felt great to come back to D&D. Like catching up with an old friend. Nice work, and thanks! :P

I've been working on my own ideas for the power cards too. I don't think I care for Business Card size, though your layout works fine since it's the same as what's in the book. Size wise, I'm looking more towards playing card size as they're easier to handle and I can go ahead and throw them in the protective sleeves I used to use for my Magic cards and not have to worry about them getting damaged and having to reprint.

I would probably change up the card back too, just for personal preference - just a little too "blah" for my personal taste.

Don't take the post here as an insult, just sharing my thoughts.

yeah, was really going for functional more than flashy but just wanted to give peolpe something they can use. My group has found them incredibly helpful, especially those new to D&D. If I get feedback I'll pop the rest up if not, I'll just make and use em in my group. Thanks for the input though

Hey Nickar;

I love those cards you made! If you intend to finish the set, I'd love to get them. I'm trying to start a game, but I'm the only person in my group who'd even HEARD of D&D... so having a deck of cards with the powers for my newbie friends would go a long way towards helping them through the learning-curve.

I agree with Lord Psynister about making them playing-card sized, though... it'd be nice to have a little extra room at the bottom. My idea was to get them laminated, and then allow my friends to write notes on the blank space at the bottom in washable marker...

I'd love to get the full set. I'm the only one in my group who has obsessively read over 4e so these would be great for helping them get right in to the game.

ok, I'll do them by class so you can download the classes you need. I have quite a few done right now in the business card size format so I will finish that set first then move to the playing card size. I also designed a new back that has the class pic from the book to easily identify them. I'll get them up a s quick as I can....

Can someone convert those to PDF or other widely available format. Not everyone owns MS Publisher (and don't want to register for a trial) ...

Having a card set would be most dope. I'm the only person in my group of friends to own the 4th edition books, and i don't trust half of them handling my stuff...so power to you for posting the cards!:D

Those are pretty good replicas of what I expect DNDinsider to have available, but if you want something crappy, but functional, to use in the meantime... feel free to grab http://www.dmsden.com/powerindexcards.doc

These are intended to be printed on 3x5 index cards, so a little bigger.

They also include secondary and tertiary targets / effects, which are useless for quite a few powers, but are there if you need them.

Like I said...generic and crappy, but functional =p

I used something called "Magic Set Editor" (I presume this is ok with Wizards of the coast to post but my full apologies if its not)

http://magicseteditor.sourceforge.net/welcome

Which can be used to create playing size cards (like those of pokemon and what not) its easily editable to create your own layout: and upon their Forum I found a specific set created for DnD 4 Power cards)

Pretty sweet. I'll have to take a look at this when I'm not busy at work. Thanks for sharing =)

Though, this is definitely going to be a piece of ammunition for those people who claim D&D is now DDMTG (Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures: The Gathering)

There already is a card set for custom D&D minis stats cards. ;)

Also there are some prety good power cards out there using a popular template for MSE.

I'd be careful posting this as it would be against copyright to distribute this info, since the powers aren't published as OGL.

Aye, I think it'd be a judgement on common sense though. Wizards know for a fact people will create things like this to ease gameplay (in fact in an article of theirs they used home made created power cards themselves).

These would never be as good, in quality and appeal, as those which wizard may produce for purchase; but they are nifty :P
