| #1ThunderTraxJun 11, 2011 0:52:33 | So, I have a post in the DM section but I wanted a few player opinions as my own players have not seen my new table. I hope is it not too unacceptable to post in both sections. The problem: we play on a 2'x4' cofee table on a couch/chairs and it gets very cluttered and we just added two players so 6 players and DM. Having serious storage issues. ![]() The Solution: I have made a Gaming table to go on top of this, The bottom level measures 3'x5' which gives extra room and the Grid is 12" higher so now our play heigh is about mid chest rather then our knees I think it will solve our space issues and the top is dry erase as are the boards at each player station. I also included an initiative tracking system to help with that which is an issue in most of my games (bad memory). Oh and last thins there are 8 boxed which I call dice cages! ![]() Table overview ![]() DM side with initiative tracker above ![]() Player station ![]() Lighting underneath. My basic question is can you think of anything that you would like as a player that could be incorperated? Thanks for the imput I am really excited to finalize this for my players (our next game is on Sunday so i have time for fine tuning. I also know the color sucks lol but it's what i had on me and i wanted to stay under a $40 budget. |

I might steal your design if I can find a place to store it during nondnd time. A design feature I would add. Holes for laptop cords. Many of my players use a laptop, and it would be nice to see a hole for their cords to drop through, instead of having them go all over the place. Along that note, I'd like to see it on its own legs, instead of placed on a coffee table. Maybe detachable ones. To me, it still looks a little cramped if this thing is just set onto that coffee table. Not to mention unstable. I like to be able to scoot up close to the table, and I don't see that as possible with this setup. Maybe that coffee table is taller than it looks? |

Well I do have a hole in the very middle for laptop cords actually am thinking of mounting a power strip there. I don't have the space to move my cofee table and set this one up unfortunately. The cofee table site level with the seats on the could and this sets on top and it's actually really nice i will have to get a pic later of that. But you are right we can't scoot too close to the table. when you sit down the bottom level is the same height as the cofee table and the top level is mid chest height, it's not ideal but it is more relaxed in the space i have. Allso the coffee table is the exact same size at the battle grid on my new table. That means the 2x2 supports for the upper table are on the cofee table with 6" overhang all around it is very sturdy. If I was goung to support it with it's own legs i would have added some 1x2's across the bottom and a 2x4 leg system If you just put legs on the pressboard would bend and probobly break This table was made to be supported by the cofee table for the most part but could be modified. So yes could still be cramped but our couch is larger than it seems too our main issue was books/snacks cluttering the battlegrid which i think will be solved. |
