God is dead. No, seriously I'm a cleric with a critical crisis...

Honestly all existential discussions aside, I have a dillema of biblical proportions: after bringing a character through the ranks and becoming one of the high priests in a campaign setting, the gaming group dissolved and we haven't played these characters in roughly five years or so. Well, the DM is putting the band back together so to speak but my character has a problem. See, there's multiple dieties present in this setting, and they rarely visit prime material (if at all) but they do follow cannon of their respective worlds and it just so happens that my patron diety is DEAD! AHHHHHHHRRRGGHH!!!

I'm a twentieth level character with levels in Wiz(Necromancer), Priest (Velsharoon), True Necromancer, etc. Now, the DM has been more than kind about this and given me a bunch of different options, but I'd like to solicit your opinions if I could. The only experience I have with this type of thing is the time of troubles in Faerun when you could still get low level spells when a god died or in Dragonlance when a true cleric could get very low levels before the War of the lance started.

What do you do? I've even built a community center/crematorium with this character.... Do magical items geared towards this faith still work? (Garments of faith, etc?)

Thanks muchly and have a great weekend,

Since you mention taking levels in multiple classes, I'll assume this is 3.x edition.

You're a high level necromancer, and your god is dead.  Reanimate him, or, possibly, step into his shoes.
