Hey, so, I walked into a shop somewhat by accident a week or so ago, and found out they run D&D Encounters. Basically what I want to know is what I'll need to play ( I have the handout), how to act, etc <_<. I've played D&D online using the RPTools Maptool client, but this'll be my first time playing D&D in real life. So, yeah tips, pointers, etc, would be very helpful.

Take your dice (if you have them) and an open mind. You never know who you're going to meet.

The encounters are a pretty fun time.  Just be prepared to play a lot of meta game trying to figure out how to win.  As far as the places I have played the encounters in, most of the games have been pretty much about winning, not so much about role playing...

That's not surprising.  Encounters includes pre-generated characters, and people tend not to roleplay much with those.  it's like borrowing someone else's clothes: you'd rather do it than go without, but you sure won't be comfortable.
