Ok, now that everyone is here to hell at me for my retarded subject, listen to my plea.

I have a wife (yes, I play D&D, so does she, and she weighs much less than 300 pounds... even though I don't) and she is playing in my D&D game. I've been running the premade campaigns because I just don't have the time with a son, step-son, and full time job to make the games any more. So we got the PHB 2.0 and she made a Female Goliath Barbarian... we can't find a miniature that fits her character at all. Is there anywhere someone could point me that perhaps makes custom minis... I am looking into it as a gift for our anniversary coming up soon... Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks

Things like which weapon she uses will help. A female barbarian with twin scimitars wont help your wife if she is using a great spear

There are two DDM figs for the Goliath called the Cleric of Kavaki and simply Barbarian. They both could fit as a barbarian but are also both decidedly male. You could add some hair easily to their bald heads.

She is using an Executioners Axe (so she will probably be using specifically 2H axes of the double headed variety...)

You or someone who does custom minis could easily mod the Goliath Barbarian into a female (well... maybe not easily but should be doable). Check out your local gaming store and pick it up as a single and ask around to see if anyone does mods, there is usually 1-2 mini artists in an area.

If it's part of a wedding anniversary gift, then get a metal one and paint it up. Reaper should have something useful, or perhaps one of the Games Workshop ones will fit? Last resort, try Hordes minis.

What Anniversary year is it?
Is it Wood? Candy? Tin? Steel? Paper? Diamond?

You could always make that something special.
Wood carved figure; hardened, sculpted and painted jujube figure; real gemstone placed into figure. Whatever.
Just touching upon some creative ideas here for you.

Reaper miniatures has some excellent figures. Perhaps not custom, but many options.

Here is a relevant search

Also, the Reaper "Warlord" line are about 32mm, and are pretty big. (As a matter of fact, my wife's dwarf figure is nearly as tall as my Dark Legends Paladin figure.)

As someone who deals extensively with miniatures, including extensive conversion work, this is nearly impossible, or would look like crap. The male and female physiques are substantially different.

Female to male is doable (file off the breasts, build up the abdomen, beef up the arms and legs a bit. Male to female is nearly impossible. You'd have to file off musculature, file and resculpt the entire torso, somehow lower the shoulders, carefully re-do the entire face..

Not going to happen. Basically sir, my unfortunate answer to you is that you are probably going to need, or more accurately, want, to use a human-scale miniature for the character. however, realistically speaking on the 25-28mm heroic scale, the size difference between a human and goliath will generally be neglible.

The other alternative is to use miniatures from a provider that does 32mm miniatures instead of 28s, which would make her a bit larger then a normal character. The only ones I could find however were wielding two axes or swords.

I'll look at more manufacturers I know of when I get back from my lunch break, I may be able to find you something.

Warlord is 28mm Heroic (aka "more like 30")..

Also, I need to know what kind of ballpark you're looking at.. anything I find is probably going to be 15-25 bucks, so I'd like to know if it's worth my time looking for you :P

Reaper is good. You might also try Dark Sword miniatures. They have some marvelous female barbarians. Also, for off brand stuff, check this one out: http://www.coolminiornot.com/ They have an assortment of some seriously weird and beautiful pieces.

Since scale is hard to judge with miniatures, it might be be best to just get a largish looking female barbarian miniature and then paint it as a goliath. Other than being big and tall, they're not much different from regular humans, in terms of shape. It's more a question of coloration.

That actually sounds good. It's our first year anniversary and she doesn't care too much what it's wielding, so long as it makes sense for a barbarian to hold. Right now we are using a DDM troglodyte, so anything close would be a step in the right direction.

Thanks!

It's our first year anniversary

That'd be paper then.
You're kinda on your own there.

I'm thinking most definitely not gaming related.
Pre-paid ticket for complete spa treatment?
Airline tickets to the Bahamas?
I'm sure something creative with paper can be found.

Here's some companies to investigate, there are too many really nice models to list individually:

Letter in Brackets is local availability likelyhood:
Anima Tactics (32mm) [C]
Wyrd miniatures (32mm) [D]
Freebooter Miniatures (30mm) [F]
Privateer Press (32mm... More steampunkish) [b]
Dark Sword Miniatures (~30mm, but specializes moreso in elmore/parkinson esque "lithe chainmail bikini" barbarians) [C]
Reaper Miniatures (25-28mm heroic) http://www.reapermini.com [A]

Support your FLGS if you can, otherwise check out http://www.coolminiornot.com/store

IMPORTANT NOTE:

32mm miniatures are going to generally come with a 30mm round square base, this will NOT fit inside your standard 1" battlemat squares. You'll need to base it on a standard 25mm square base. If you don't have any, I'd recommend going to your FLGS on a night where miniatures wargames are played and asking around, someone's almost sure to have one they'll give you (or sell you for like, a nickel)

Since I was working on some minis tonight anyway, I quick made a size comparison picture for you so you can see how the different scales look together.

http://robbsmith.home.comcast.net/minicomp.JPG

From Left to Right:

Reaper Miniatures (25-28mm "Heroic")
Freebooter Miniatures Sorceress (30mm)
Anima Tactics Veronica (32mm)

I tried to get the feet to about the same level, but the Barbarian girl from reaper is still a bit higher then the other two. Hopefully that will assist in the process of selecting a miniature. As you can see, the 32mm is quite larger then the other two, so if you can find one you like in that scale it will probably make an impressive Goliath model.

Try Fenryll. Especially their Amazon line. They're quite large (they claim to be 28mm but most are well over 30mm tall, some closer to 40mm), appropriately scantily clad for barbarian types, and several have big two-handed weapons. The sculpting and casting quality is also excellent (at least in my experience with the company). The only downside is that some of them are very stripperific. Although whether that actually is a downside is obviously a matter of opinion...

You might also look at some of the older giant figures, by Grenadier, RAFM, or Ral Partha.

I just have to throw this out there - that was a lot of really bizarre setup for a really simple question.

Indeed. Was there anyone who would have assumed the presence of a 300 lb wife in this scenario if we had not specifically been told otherwise?

I was trying to figure out if he was serious or not. With the awkward misspellings, and the 2 hour story to lead up to a "looking for this mini" question... not to mention giving a $10 piece of plastic/metal for the first year anniversary...

You may consider editing your previous post with "My wife needs a miniature for her female goliath barbarian. A perfect match isn't needed, just something close." You will make people feel much less uncomfortable with something like that.

I thought it was funny, and I think the man was jovial rather than uncomfortable.

How good are you with greenstuff? I've made a couple goliaths using Heresy's Boris Mk 2 figure (found here: http://www.heresyminiatures.com/hh020.htm ) It would take extensive conversion (added breasts, clothing and hair) but the figure stands at 40mm, can fit on a one-inch base (you get three or four options for bases from Heresy) and comes with three weapons options, one of which is a double-bladed axe.
If you're good in conversion, then you also won't mind that this mini does come in a few parts (body, head, L arm, R arm, and weapon.)
Here's a couple of those minis in the flesh as golaiths males- the armor on the left one is made with greenstuff. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OegChr5Zg_s/Sez7nDMFNyI/AAAAAAAABfU/pWoIyMNMOdc/s1600-h/Heresy+Boris+Mk2s+as+DnD+Goliaths.jpg

The Fenryll minis looked nice, but they are resin/plastic; not sure if that was important to you.
