| #4hammersmithpalaisAug 07, 2009 15:33:10 | I'll show you guys some awesome artwork as soon as my campaign starts. One of my players is an amazing artist who draws everyone a character portrait as soon as we get things rolling. In fact, this is probably more fun for them than my GMing. She actually makes character building more fun than it already is. You can sit around all day and make characters, just to have this girl draw them for you. |
| #5pajaulAug 07, 2009 19:28:24 | I found it refreshing. I like the use of color and I see some fine fundamentals in form as well as anatomy. The use of line could use work, naturally, and practice can iron out the consistency. I would suggest doing figure drawings with simple shapes where anatomy fits. Do a single line for skeletal structure, then fill in with number circles or other shapes to find your overall form. With pose in mind of course. All done in lightly pressed pencil, Once this is achieved, with a firm hand fill in the line you wish to keep. You should improve markedly especially if you find a model online or other art in the pose you wish and do a copy to better learn form from others! Once you've learned it, try drawing from memory to achieve the artistic eye for later form work! But overall I see a visualized character concept spoken through what little language the artist knows quite well. It is easy to establish certain traits, and using that, formulate in the imagination based off of character descriptions. A nice effort which I throughly reward with encouragement and praise. Deserved too. Temping ego to share and enjoy in an already enjoyable hobby is just lovely on all sides. But also I add in constructive criticism to aid the artist improve. Bad with good, and all directed at improvement. I know you can do it! Disregard Novacat. and others who do not include equal parts constructive to their criticism. Tastes vary. Not everyone is an artist. Don't give up! And enjoy! |

| #7dunhillAug 08, 2009 2:36:56 | I hate to say it guys, but Novacat is right. You post your stuff publicly, you expect public opinion. |
| #8dunhillAug 08, 2009 2:39:36 | hand drawn characters? guess its time for me to post some of my once again: You're actually a pretty good artist, although not a varied one. They all look like the same chick, but in different dresses (well, except the 'some guy' one). So i guess if that was the point, that you keep doing the same character reflavored every time you roll up a new toon, then well played! I did it too, this name Dunhill... ive used it for every single male dwarf character i play lol |

I'm not that much of an artist, but I've drawn the same thing over and over again so I can draw that one thing fairly well. lol |

| #12archangel_jamesAug 09, 2009 20:50:07 | One of my favourite parts of character creation is sketching out the character at the end. Here's my current character as he appears on my character sheet (along with his stats and background): Henry Findgold (on Obsidian Portal) |
