Having problems generating ideas to deal with this dungeon

As the leader of our group, it normally falls to me to figure out these things and I normally do a good job of it...but in this case I am a bit puzzled and I need some help.

Our group consists of a dwarven fighter (leader), a very stupid and now critically wounded human fighter, a bad-idea machine human paladin, a bad-idea machine half-elf cleric, and a quiet magic user with literally no spells because his spell book was destroyed.

We are in a dungeon where we have come across a broken wooden frame with runes on it that looks like it use to be a stand for a mirror and shards of some kind of jet black glass on the floor. Also later in the dungeon there is a large room with a coffin in the middle (when you attempt to open the coffin it triggers a flame trap out of the sides) on top of a moveable arrow. There are different hallways in the room, most with different colored lanterns at the end of each that, when a torch is put in, turn the room different colors. A couple of the laterns are missing. There is a chain that leads to a tunnel above the room that is 120 feet long with a face toward the end with a large open mouth. When you get 60 feet down the hall, a strong wind begins to blow out of the mouth, getting stronger as you get closer until it blows you out of the hole to your possible death, also the eyes of the face swirl when active with all the colors of the lanterns downstairs. We also discovered that the arrow moves and when pointed at each of the different hallways, raises an elevator sort of device that lowers you into another level. One lead to a blocked off hallway with a large stone slab covering the way. Another was a crushing trap. A third was rusted and broke the floor to the hallway trying to force itself up, when the floor broke way a swarm of beetle that leave behind a trail of acid came up and blocked off that hallway. I'm at a loss of how to get by the face or the bugs, and I can only see the blocked off hallway as the only open idea. There is some way to solve the whole face thing but I can't see it, if someone could help me come up with some ideas...

Any chance of putting the mirror back together? Is the frame intact? Try laying the frame down on the floor and piecing the glass back in.

Have you tried getting the dorf on top of the coffin to chop it open instead of lifting the lid(sometimes clever DM's overlook the brute-force card)

Beetles are usually flamable.

Try putting out all the lanterns and trying the face. If that doesn't work put out all light and try. Stand someone just at the place where the wind starts and light lanterns in different combinations to see what happens.

What colors are the lanterns? Which hallways are missing lanterns?

One annoying trick DM's like to play (I know because I do) is messing with light effects.

There might be some things that only become visible in a certain color of light. Try using the black shards from the mirror in a lantern, too. As above, if the face is linked to the torches, put them all out, or remove the colored glass from the lanterns.

Try plugging up the fire trap with a few blocks of stone to disrupt the flow, or alternatively try opening the coffin from a distance with a pole or something. Unless the coffin is immobile or really heavy, plug in some of the sides so the fire doesn't get out, and use it as a portable flamethrower to deal with the beetles. (you have enough strong guys in the party it seems)

(Note, your DM might not approve of that last idea)

I'd also recommend trying to put the mirror back together - especially if you find more of those black shards dotted around. The completed mirror might help you solve the puzzle (for instance it might be enchanted).

look up the pathfinder game "Age of wyrms" Your dm is running that campaign. I can assume this from the lanterns, fire trap and such. Im assuming also you've met Mr.Smenk and his albino orc bodyguard. A little bit of advie as well. The coffin turns towards three spheres that lift up and move. If you point it towards 1 location the floor will crumble and youll get assaulted by acid spewing beetles, and some mechanised thing. Another triggers a trap that is insta-kill and a final triggers an elevator that leads to a lower chamber.

Erase Azurdin's post from your memory, Chimera; It was all a dream! Deedlededoo deedlededoo deedlededoo. (a la Wayne's World)

I'm definitely leaning towards the coloured lanterns, myself. I'd try them in all the different combinations I could think of, gather them all in one place, or try and ignite the coffin with them if nothing else worked. There's also something about the mirror, for sure, though it might be a red herring or possibly something detrimental like a portal to the Abyss.

Everything else I can think of right now involves the wizard having spells. I'll think more on it later.
