Ok so i have a player that's a noble and one of the things he wants to see in the game is a Noble gathering (i picked a party) that he gets invited to and needs to get the other "non nobles" players an invite too  and well  I know how to get him the invite but i am not sure what kind of things to put in the game to get the other invites i know the player my think of ideas of his own but i want a  few backup ideas so any help would be nice.

Now for the second problem what should i do at a noble up tight party to keep all my playes involved I was thinking of dancing but other then that i am a fish out of th water  so any help would be wonderful.

Thanks everyone

Do the other players need to be invited as guests? Maybe they could gain access to the party as hired workers or performers.

Prehaps the invited player can bring one guest, and so chooses the rouge to unlock the back door allowing the others to get in.

Nobles would have talking events, who can tell the best joke, riddles, tings that highlight their well-to-do education.

I think it would be pretty easy to justify having some of the others serve as the noble player's servants or bodyguards.  Female characters (if you have any) could serve as a date for the noble.  That would be very amusing if the female character and the noble had some friction between them.

Other than the initial presentation to the nobles with a Diplomacy check, id suggest the below:-

Maybe History to tell a good story of the groups adventures, entertain the nobles.
Insight could be used to read the crowds interests and get a +2 to the next story told.
A streetwise check could be used to tell storys of the streets, sculduggery etc.
A Religion check could be used to tell a story of Angels and Paladins, or a sermon.
Dungeoneering could be used for underdark tales and Nature for hunting orc stories.
Bluff could be a tale of pure fantasy or comedy.
Acrobatics can be used to run a dance with maybe, good footwork etc.

Some of the stories could be aided with Athletics, used to give bonuses to the tales as you describe the tough climbs, jumping vast pits to attack.
Arcane could create some basic illusions to add to the tales told

Just some idea's. Hope they help.

You've obtained a legitamite invitation, now it's time to make some forgeries.
Throw out some bribes to get an extra invitation or two.
What Langrishe said.
What Bronski said.

Check out few episodes of Leverage. Minus the computer hacking stuff, the show is chock full of ideas on how to people not on the guest list into the party.

In Firefly, Mal is essentially hired to go to a fancy shindig, in order to make contact with someone whose custom Badger wants. So, have different factions hire the characters and set them up with invitations to perform some sort of side jobs at the party: a bit of theft, a challenge to a duel, reconnaissance, eavesdropping, etc. This could potentially give the DM a lot to handle, so make the tasks easy to accomplish so the PCs can then enjoy the party and do whatever other interacting the DM had in mind.
