| #1moonshadow6182Mar 15, 2010 14:07:07 | Ok guys need all your help. My group is playing rifts with d&d characters converted over. Ill set up the situation. The power gamer has just taken over deaths throne and is now death him self. My character is a celestial on the verge of turning evil ( don't ask *sigh*). Anyway were in a tunnel and theres a 5 story drop, my character hovers over it to see what's down there. the power gamer folds in front and ask for my sword, it's made from one of my feathers and is bound to my soul just so u know. my character is in love with the power gamer so she gives it to him. the next instant he cuts off her wings and keeps the sword. as i fall one of the characters in the group who is bent on destroying my character throws a fire ball down after her. the power gamer opens a demension door right under her after im hit with the fireball and opens the door on top of the fire ball. of course im dead and now death has my soul. because my body is destroyed he places me in one of deaths sons bodies. the lightning elf. on top of everything my best friend in the game is a thief grabs 7 of my feathers before my body is destroyed and wears them as if she had wings taunting me. what should I do? what would you guys do? and how in the world do i play a lightning elf never played one before? ( just know i don't have a computer so if i haven't responded i haven't made it to the library i know it sucks) |

My second, also snarky response is, "It sounds like you are playing with a bunch of jerks, what did you expect?" (Of course, until now, the asshattery may have been confined to GM characters and not the other players. If you are playing an angel on the verge of falling from grace, it stands to reason that you have done some unsavory things to the GM characters yourself.) Unfortunately, that second, snarky response keeps coming back. These people sound very immature. A pecking order has now been established, with you at the bottom. From here on out, I would expect every single one of your characters, whether you actually play the Lightning Elf or a new one, to be treated exactly the same way. They will look for an opening to abuse you, and then laugh about it. Presumably, your GM is also getting his laughs from this, as he allowed the party PVP to happen in the first place. If the GM just gets yucks out of watching players fight, you have some hope, but we aren't the folks who are really going to be able to help you. You need to find the Palladium forums and ask for some advice on how to cheese out whatever character you make next. With said cheesed out character, you may be able to turn the tables and kill one of them before they kill you, establishing a new low man on the totem pole. If the GM is more amused by your reaction to being ganked, or is better friends with one of them, then nothing you do will resolve the stituation in game. They will keep killing you, the GM will keep allowing it to happen, and many laughs will be had by everyone but you. Welcome to kindergarten. It sounds like you are at college. Unless you are at Brigham Young or Liberty University, I would be surprised if there was only one group of people in the area to game with. Find a local game store, many have bulletin boards of people looking for games or players. Use things like meetup.com. A former landlord that I used to game with used meetup to great effect when finding or putting games together. But, for me, the second the GM allowed party PVP, I would have been gone. In my opinion, no gaming is better than bad gaming. |

| #5kharanaxMar 23, 2010 8:04:24 | I've got a few suggestions: 1- If this is not par for the course for your party, ask them why the heck they did that. 2- Stop playing Rifts. The setting may be neat, but the system feels horribly unbalanced. 3- Change group so that killing among the party isn't a priority, or considered fun. It's juvenile. Now, if you're 12, it's ok to be juvenile, because you are. 4- Start using punction correctly, it will be less of a headache to read, and more people will be willing to come forward with help. You are making it more difficult for any who might want to help you. I played with a group that was that way before, for a few sessions. It wasn't fun, so I changed group and stayed away from things like that. I've been having a lot more fun since. |
