I would go for an enlarged Dire T-Rex.
Otherwise, I would go for a Dire Mega Velocy Raptor.

You should always shapechange into Dinosaurs.

DM has banned Dino's we're playing Dragonlance world and cause they don't exist they ain't a possibility for shape change

Just say they're "prehistoric draconians" and you should be good to go. Or call them anything other than a dinosaur. Reskin, reskin, reskin. Game statistics only refer to a dinosaur when we say they do. So change the name.

Dire tortise is a really good choice, I'd say stick with it. (from sandstorm right?). Their lightning strike power is awesome for casters. Free suprise round always means you get to cast a buff spell before every fight regardless of anything. Plus a solid AC and trample ability are really nice add ons.

Not sure your actual question though. You are a dire tortise, and cast animal growth so you need your new stats? That depends on your current con/int/wis/cha but your new str will be 34, and your new con will be your current con +4. Your new dex becomes 4. You also get your +2 Natural armor bonus. Your damage die increase from 1d8 to 1d10 and thats basically it.

So if the DM has asked that he not use dinos do you think that using a dino anyway is a good idea?  You don't think that will cause any problems?  Or were you just joking?

The issue was that there are no dinosaurs in Dragonlance, not (as far as we know) that dinosaur stat blocks are unbalanced in some way. Take the word "dinosaur" out of there and it's likely just a stat block that has claw and bite attacks. That could be just about any monster. So give it another name that fits better with Dragonlance, describe its look differently, and you're golden.

If the DM still objects, then he's not objecting to a violation of canon. He's objecting to something else, probably that you took one of the most powerful classes in 3.5 and he's trying to tone you down.

According to the Wild-Shape ability/polymorph its str, dex and con that changes. The Animal Growth spell says you increase 2 sizes, correct? And according to The size statistics table you get +8str for every size increase and +4con, the dex stays the same and for the first size increase you get +4 nat. armor and +5 on the second to a total of +9 though a -6 ac for size. The problem comes when you need to calculate the dmg dice since a Dire Tortoise base attack is 1d8 and has to increase twice so 1d8->2d6->3d6 no problem there but the trample has to increase too correct? how do you increase from 4d8 when it aint on the table? Or am i a total retard (this is my 3rd year playing D&D 3.5, havent playd anything before that)

The stats i got
Dire Tortoise
Base stats                 New Stats
Str: 26                       Str: 42
Dex: 6                       Dex: 6
Con: 25                     Con: 33

The stat adjustment for the animal growth is practically identical to the enlarge person spell.

Size increases essentially change your overall strength score, somewhat offset by an attack penalty... so it basically just goes to damage. While your natural armor goes up, your regular AC tends not to change because the size modifier to AC.

As far as the dice change on damage... the players handbook has a simplified version in the weapons section. d6 becomes d8.... etc. The rest can be found in the DMG.

The rules on it are somewhat convoluted, but I think we can all agree that the bigger monster should do more damage. If you're really uncertain, make a wild guess on your dire turtle and ask the DM if it looks about right. If not, he'll adjust to what sounds agreeable.

I don't remember off the top of my head, but does the spell description not have all the info in the fine print?

I think the information you used here for statistics are the adjustments that you make when making new characters  that aren't the standard human elf dwarf, etc.

The game system wasn't really designed for that, so you get some pretty hefty adjustments. These adjustments are often substantially greater than the standard increase for getting larger through spell.

As far as what to do with the dice.... lol... the monster manual tells you one thing and the DMG tells you something else. And the players handbook has it's take on it as well.

I'm not sure which source you want to use... but I think for multiple-dice situations, each d8 increases to the next category.

1d8 becomes 2d6, so 4d8 becomes 8d6. Moving up ANOTHER size category...

Those 8d6 become 8d8. (8-64).

Or you could say that each of the 2d6 becomes 3d6... in which case the total base trample damage becomes 12d6 (12-72). Either one can crush a man in one hit, especially if you use massive damage rules.

8d8 averages 36hp/hit (regardless of conventional wisdom, the math don't lie)

12d6 averages 42hp/hit.

I'm in favor of the 8d8, but I'm an "evil DM"...

P.S. Don't let them flip you over on your back unless you take some ninja levels. And don't bite anyone... you won't be able to let go until the sun goes down or lightening strikes, depending on whether you are east or west of the Mississippi.

It could be this, maybe the DM really is mostly worried about tier-envy, like it's the OP's fault that the other players choose classes not capable of doing everything. (OotS 0764 BTW )

Also Crowe beat me to the math

Wildshape errata says your con doesn't change. (or it does but doesn't help you in the more meaningful manners, I forget which)

True that.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but smelling sweet doesn't make you a rose.

Big claw and big bite damage could be a bear. I'm suddenly inspired to look through some monster manuals and see if I can find two completely different monsters with completely identical stats. Who's with me?
