What do I need to make alchemist's acid at lvl two and where can I make it? Do I have to be home and can I do this on the road, how does it all work. I get how it works when made or applied to a ranged weapon but its the procces leading up to it I don't get. What skills or feats do I need to even make  it?Thanks for any help.

Making a magical potion requires the Brew Potion ritual. Making alchemical items requires the Alchemist feat.

To make 1 flask of Alchemist's Acid (at item level 1) you need:
the Alchemist feat
the Formula for Alchemist's Acid (costs 70gp to buy the Formula book)
to be level 1 or higher
20gp of materials (this is used up)
training in Arcana or Thievery (as specified by the item you are making)
30 minutes to work without danger/distractions
an Alchemy Case (40gp), Alchemist's Workshop (8000gp) or some other suitable set of tools to work with

You don't need to make any skill checks.  Ask your GM about your alternate options, working faster or without proper tools/materials may be possible with skill checks etc (this is outside of the rules, but the GM may think it's cool).

To make 1 Potion of Healing (item level 5) you need:
the Ritual Caster feat
to have mastered the Brew Potion ritual (must be level 1 or higher, 75gp to buy the ritual book, 8 hours to master it)
50gp of materials (Residium, Arcane material or Religion materials)
1 hour to cast the ritual

Again, you don't need to make a skill check... or even have training in the relevant skill, as this ritual requires no check.  Other rituals will only have poor effects with a low skill check.

Take the Alchemist Theme and play a Wizard (Arcanist). (Alchemist will make sure you learn more alchemical item formulae, and Arcanist gives you free rituals at certain levels)

You now know three first level rituals and the formula for a first level alchemical item. (You must select which things you know at character creation. Make sure to choose Brew Potion and maybe Create Holy Water). Buy an Alchemy Case (you'll need it for traditional alchemical item creation and use of Alchemist powers if you choose them)

Whenever you have enough alchemical reagents (measured in GP value) to purchase a common potion or elixir, you can spend those components and one hour to create that item. The same goes for having enough to purchase an alchemical item for which you have the formula.

Whenever you end a short rest (five minutes of no danger/strenuous activity), you may create the alchemical item you learned the formula for at no cost (you can't have more than one item created from this feature at any given time, unfortunately, so make sure to use it).

At some point learn Enchant Magic Item (Wizards can use one of their 5th level free ritual learnings to pick it up at that point in time) and grab Creation Mastery the feat to increase the level of items you can make.

If you're just after a wizardly theme without being wedded to the class, the Artificer with the Alchemist theme is another option for achieving this, since it starts out with the item creation rituals (Brew Potion, Enchant Magic Item, Disenchant Magic Item) at 1st level.
