How am I supposed to find a gaming group around where I live.

I have tried the Players seeking Players forum.
I have tried meetup.com
I have tried everything... to many to list.

I'm exhausted, what do I do!?

Are there any gamestores in your area?

One of the easiest ways is to take a trek over to your nearest Friendly Neighborhood Gaming Store and see if they have anyone who needs a player. It could be something as simple as a list on a wall with names, telephone/email, and games you would be interested in playing. They might go as far as to host a few games, and you could inquire if anyone would mind an additional person.

That's how I found my current group. I happened to be up at the local game store one day, saw them playing LG and asked to join up. Also, you could post flyers at bookstores as well, any place that sells D&D stuff, such as Books-A-Million, Borders, Barnes & Noble, Waldenbooks or whatever your local bookstore chain is. Anywhere D&D is sold, there are gamers in the area.

Good Luck!

Do you have friends, family, or co-workers? Consider asking them to give dnd a shot with you.

If you go to high school or college, you may be able to just start asking around. In high school I would recomend you ask around a drama club type of orginization. In college, you probably have some sort of "Roleplay club" if not, consider the theater, history, or english deparptments.

Yeah, finding a group is really hard in my town. I actually might be persuading my friends to form a small group, but so far I've only actually played online or with my immediate family members.

Unfortunately, I do not go to High School or College, little past that. Good ideas though.

There are a few massive sites just for finding gamers, like Pen and Paper. There are others like P&P, and there are other forums with GSG boards.

I have the same problem, and was going to suggest the internet, which is how I play, but seeing as you apparently have a game store in your area, well that obviously means that there's enough gaming in your area to make it worth stocking, and that they probably visit that store, so yeah, talk to people there, try and see if there's a notice board with games on it, or w/e.

Good luck.

It depends where you live, if you live in Australia its very hard to find a group.

Game shops often have a message board or something similar where you can post an ad. Coffee shops, comic shops, indie book stores, etc, might also be a good place to advertise.

Does your community have an active Craigslist community? If so try that.

If you are in the postition to host a game, start your own group. If you offer to be the organizer/host there are probably others like you around who would like to game. If you are willing to DM this is even a better lure.

Sucker your friends into playing, I'm sure you have few who would be willing to giving playing a try, promise food and drink. :P Although this means you might be thrust into the DM position, which you might not be comfortable with.
