| #1sticks128Nov 23, 2008 23:19:57 | We have just reached Paragon and are finding that a lot of monsters now do status effects. We have a cleric with Sacred Flame, but beyond that, what woudl you recommend to do to help with status effects? Namely I am a fighter who keeps getting blinded, dazed, or stunned, so I can not take OA, so I am not really doing my job. Thanks for any help! |

Look for them in the PHB or the AV, at Paragon you should have more than enough cash to invest. The problem with that approach is that if you're rolling a save, you've likely already spent a round under the status effect. Increasing your defenses so as to avoid being affected in the first place is a more effective method than being adept at removing existing effects, but there's no reason you can't do both. |

My defenses are pretty decent. I only have a +2 cloak which could go to +3, but they are AC 28 Fort 23 Ref 21 Will 21 Aside from the already mentioned cloak increase, how can I increase my defenses? I was looking at possibly taking Iron Will or Lightning Reflexes before Armor specialization. Any other suggestions? For reference my stats are Str 19 Con 15 Dex 16 Int 9 Wis 19 Cha 11 |

Warlords and other leader characters may have a few powers that either make your saves easier or even allow saves outside of your turn, essentially negating the condition completely. By the way, note that your combat superiority feature is not an Opportunity Attack and is not affected by any conditions that hinder those, though you may still face a few penalties (blind means your target has superior cover, so you've got a -5 on your attack). |

We have a cleric who does have Sacred Flame, but I seem to have terrible luck making those saves. Last week I needed to make 4 saves and failed 13 times before making them. ![]() By the way, note that your combat superiority feature is not an Opportunity Attack and is not affected by any conditions that hinder those, though you may still face a few penalties (blind means your target has superior cover, so you've got a -5 on your attack). Was Combat Superiority errataed or is there something I am missing? It is a bonus to an opportunity attack, so it would seem that I can't do it while blinded, stunned, dazed, etc. |
| #9ciferNov 25, 2008 8:04:16 | It wasn't. Referencing Combat Challenge would have been more appropriate... well, everything that's marked and that tries to shift away from you still gets a parting attack from you assuming you're capable of attacking (blind works, stun IIRC doesn't). |

I am pretty sure you do not get OA when blind. Can someone confirm or deny please? Thanks. |

However, the attack from Combat Challenge is not an OA, but a Basic Attack performed as an Immediate Interrupt. |
