My weekly D&D is tonight, and i need suggestions on how to defeat an Earth Elemental Monolith. I'm a level 7 Wizard/10 Mage of the arcane order. I mostly work with summoning but i don't think summoning another monolith to fight it is gonna do the trick. I just wanted to know what spells would do well for fighting it.

I don't have my monster manuals with me (I've lent them to my DM) but from what I remember they aren't too difficult to defeat, as a mage. I know they have a crazy AC and hit points of a skyscraper, so I would focus on touch spells and Reflex spells. I don't think they have any resistances so energy type shouldn't matter. If you can gain access to any spells that reduce his AC or boost your allies Attack then I would certainly prepare them. Maybe even try something like a wall of fire (or whatever) and bottleneck him toward the fighter. Stay away from Fort spells as he will always pass. If you want to summon monsters then I suggest an air elemental, aside from being on an opposite plane, they can lift the monolith above the ground (I think, with their hurricane ability) and stop him from retreating into the earth. Speaking of which, if you can get yourself and your allies air born you will negate the monolith's earth mastery.

Hope this helps.

Shapechange into a will-o'-wisp, or cast improved invisibility and shapechange into an allip.

Mobility is good, so flying is something you want to do.  This isn't your rogues fight get him a wand to be useful or if he allready has one an uberbow.   You and your preist/druid can do alot by raining down targeted spells on It.  keeping it out of the ground is big but nothing is going to trying to keep it away from the ground save for reverse gravity,  and or turning the entire ground to ice.    It also has a really low will save if you want to try to control it, or mess with its head.

Flight + A at-will ranged attack with more range than its reach. Stay out of its ability to harm you, and have a consistent way to damage it, and you're golden. Dissmisal also works, well, as "Paper beats rock." ( for the reference).

Add greater invisibility into the mix, and then you can stay close in its reach, even though you shouldn't be.

Pretty much everything that's labelled either 'Will save or suck' (insainity, dominate monster, imprisonment, illusions-don't think elementals are immune) or 'Ref Save or suck' (if they don't allow a strength/grapple check to get out; even simple stuff like grease might work) and classical no save battlefield control spells (wall of whatever, forcecage, solid fog etc.). also don't forget Assay SR if it has SR (don't have my books with me).
