#1 aztok May 01, 2010 0:59:12	In the group I play with, we all play with pathfinder rules, but I enjoy playing nonstandard classes, such as ones from the Psionics handbook, and the Tome of Magic. However, I feel like my character is a little underpowered in comparison to the standard classes. I Psion, mainly, which is similar in power to Wizards in some ways. The Psion from the Extended psionics Handbook, is a lot like a mage, but in this situation he has a lower hit dice, specialist wizard powers (or even universalist wizard powers) and some of the neat things that pathfinder wizards can do. I was considering updating the psion to mimic the Pathfinder wizard a little more closely, to better imitate his increase in power (and survivability). Should I jsut take the school powers and just grant them to the different psion power types? (Like the conjuration powers to the Metacreativity type, or the Transmutation to the Egoist) But I am worried that this might be either too effective or not effective enough. Also, How do I equal a wizards infinite cantrip use, when Psions have no 0 level powers? I appreciate all input on this thread, thanks.
#2 kuonji May 01, 2010 6:04:21	Play a Wizard. Call yourself a Psion. Refluff, reflavor, and maybe even rename your spells. Instead of Magic Missile you use Mind Spikes. It's not a Fireball, it's a Pyrokenetic Blast. You don't Summon you create Astral Constructs. Etc.

Mirroing the school powers with discipline power is probably the best solution.  I would also increase their Hit Dice to d6's to match every other class that used to be d4s.  As far as the cantrips things goes...I would probably do either just not match that ability...or come up with a minor psionic flavor power to equal it out.

#5 navar100 May 08, 2010 21:47:55	Improve the Psion and Wilder HD to d6's.  Psionic powers that are save or die become save or take 10 hit points damage per manifester level.  Weird save or sucks like Fuse Flesh can remain the same.

#7 aztok May 09, 2010 12:33:16	Although hesitant to continue thread necromancy, I must admit that I appreciate some more responses on this topic. I did work it out with my DM with some minor upgrades that improve me, like an extra 10 HP and a d6 hit dice from now on, and I was allowed to choose four cantrips that I could cast at-will. I wanted to have some more abilities that would focus on Metacreativity (the summoning, creating psionics) Like a specialist wizard, but I am happy with the compromise.

This is not a 4th edition only section.  Yeah, it's just the "community" section of the 4E forums, right above the "previous edition" section, and Pathfinder is not a WotC product. I'm not saying you *can't* post here, just that you're not likely to find nearly as many qualified answerers and good answers as if you post in a place where the forumgoers *all* play the game you're playing.

#12 salla May 09, 2010 17:47:28	This section of the forums is edition-neutral.  I've been mistaken about that in the past, it's an easy mistake to make. That said, I agree that either the Previous Edition forums or perhaps whatever forums, if any, the publishers of Pathfinder have, would likely create more productive results.

I'm not *complaining*, I'm telling you, outright, that most of the audience here doesn't play the game you're playing, and that you will get better results by going to *a place where people who play D20 go* to ask your D20 question. And, really, Pathfinder is not a WotC product at all, so you should maybe try the Pathfinder forums to find Pathfinder players. You've walked into a "bar" full of football fans and asked an American football question.  While some people here might be able to help, nfl.com might help you *more*.

#16 sfdragon May 09, 2010 20:44:45	give teh guy a break. maybe he did post over there, I dont know, I dont care. however maybe he wanted alot of advice on how to do it since the class he was using were wotc material sources. he or she may simply ocvering all bases. paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPubli... I dont remember if the psion was done it it or not. I know a pretty good samurai is in it, that isnt weapon restricted.
