#1 zombatman Jan 21, 2012 14:51:50	So my friends have been talking about setting up a club at school, G-Tech, all about our geeky games, the G. And one of the games we are planning to have is Dnd. Well idon't play they play in the next town with my buddy ross' uncle, so learning to play with them is kinda tricky. Although next month (End of Feburary) we would be able to do it because his uncle is comin down... For Magic, so he's leaving his Dnd at home.    Now the questions. How is the current edition that ishould get of the Player's Handbook? Will an Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition Player Handbook Work? My Mother has one in Texas and is more then willing to send me one, and any of her other DnD gear.     Iknow Dnd isn't the typical MMO but it has tankers (different terms iknow, but the real term idon't), What is the the real name And how could you make it slightly mageish?     Any input to help would be awesome! #2 Reg06 Jan 21, 2012 15:29:19	The current edition of D&D is 4th edition, which is what these forums are for (though you can find places to discuss AD&D). Certainly you can still play AD&D with your mother's books, but they are incompatible with 4th edition. The term you're looking for is Defender, and there is actually a class that is a magic using Defender. It is the Swordmage. How are your local game shops? If you talk to the owners there they can probably help you find a DM or organizer who could help your group learn D&D and get the materials they need.
