I have a paladin/divine crusader and I need help with getting a range weapon. My group is mostly melee so I only really need to protect our battle Mage. Our cleric is coming back so i dont need to be the Buff/healer character anymore. What kind of bow should I get? I know I want holy and holy surge enchantments on it. I am willing to spend my level 15 feat on it if the weapon requires a feat.

I also forgot I'm a medium half elf paladin of freedom(chaotic good) and I worship Correlon Larethian.

A composite longbow with whatever strength rating you can use. For Magic get +1 splitting, and then tack on lots of random properties. Holy and holy surge could work. I think I'd prefer holy and axiomatic, personally.

What's holy axiomatic or what book is it in? And I thought bows are based off dexterity.

Standard weapon enchantments in the DMG.  Each deals +1d6 damage when you hit a creature with a specific alignment descriptor.

Bows do use dexterity to attack, but you can get bows specially made that also let you add your Strength modifier to the damage.

How would I do that? Do I just say the bow is based off strength or do I need a special enchantment or something?

The rules are in the PHB.  It's not an enchantment, just an additional cost on a regular bow.
