For those of you playing at home, this is actually from another player in the same campaign I am in http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1173912 . He is stump on what to do as well.

I have infiltrated an enemy strong hold. I need to sabotage as much as I can before my army comes to attack it. So far I entered as a lowly servant who was tasked to assist the samurai around the fortress. After a while, I set off and disabled several of the bases siege weapons. I then attempted to kill the Leader, only to find out he was near level 20, and was probably meant for the entire group to kill him, so I ran.

The fortress itself is divided into 4 sections, each section being walled off from the other, going inwards. So to get to the center, I would have to go through 4 larges walls. Each wall is 80 feet high.

I have alerted them, and killed about 30 guards. The botched assassination has made it harder to move, but my abilities as sword sage and ninja, and my race changeling, allows me to travel around with a certain ease. What can I do? What should I attack? What should I disrupt?

Here are my current items.

Oh these are always fun.

Your primary target should be the gates that provide access to the fortress and it's inward sections. Burn, destroy, or weaken them to ensure your assaulting friends can easily get through.

Secondary target should be food stores. Burning this as the main battle begins can be a nice demoralizer for any defending force. Unless of course your assaulting for is going to need that food for themselves...

Have you tried poisoning the food and water supply? Maybe setting lots of things on fire (start with their medical areas). The smoke should also help your group member's party find this "impossible to see fortress with 80 foot tall walls".

Are you able to possibly use a siege weapon by yourself? Why not use them against your enemy... aim them downward/get them close to the walls and smash a hole through through these giant walls, so your allies' armies don't have to use the front door. (Or need to knock)

Free the horses to stampede through the camps!

In all seriousness, smashing logistics, opening gates, setting fires. You don't need to kill people. You can kick people off walls, disable them, make it out so there's multiple versions of you by bouncing around a lot.

Thanks for the suggestions. All very good, especially using their own siege weapon against them :D . Any more?

1. Burn the food stores
2. Throw dead animals into the well(s).

After that the siege shouldn't last long.

If there is no time for a siege then focus on the gates (try to jam them when they are open) and the weapons. For example sneak into the place they store the weapons and pour water over them so that they rust.

You need to be more discrete. After having raised 'x' amount of alarms, your chances of survival and mission success drop significantly. It is not your job to just kill as many guards as possible, that's the sieging army's bit. Your job is way the Hell more important to make their job easier.

-Disable the main portculi (don't just smash it). Let them think it's working fine. Same thing w/ murder holes/other defense points. Maintain the image that they're working properly so there is no time to fix them mid battle.
-80 ft walls, wtf? Walls way shorter than that need extensive buttressing and could be undermined; great height could work against them if sapper were employed after you've made a few "minor adjustments".
-Find their infirmary. Get infectious/medical waste -> mess hall, main barracks. Create a contagion, preferably something of high virulency. Failing that, compromise their healing supplies. Keep the wounded out of circulation.
-Last minute fires, particularly in the stables given great abundance of hay and thatched roofs nearby.
-If they employ an aqueduct, destroy a main support beyond the main walls to collapse it. Wells, poison or befoul quickly then.
-Grannery, just introduce a lot of water discretely. Let them think it's fine, as to simply burn it down forces their hand elsewhere. You want them to eat corrupted foodstuffs. Mildew and grain fungus (ergot for one) will be a powerful weapon.
-Organize local monstrous population w/ promises of wealth and privledge; many feeling refugees will be easy pickings for orcs and the like.

etc. etc.
I'd simply advise watching a lot of war movies for inspiration/ideas beyond that.

Try to find the main armory and cut all bow strings. Break spear shafts. Then jam the lock when you leave.

If you have time give them food poisoning. Seafood was a dietary staple in fuedal Japan and it might be in your game world, too. If so abscond with a bunch of seafood and stash it somewhere for about three days. Then, help the cooks prepare the meal and go fetch the seafood and use it. There is a really good chance that about 8 hours later most of the people who ate it will be spending all their time throwing up and dealing with diarrhea. That would be a good time for your comrades to attack.

Finally, jsut whip up some instant death poison and mix it in with the food one night at dinner time.

Who is this ninja asking the question of?

Is the ninja asking Scrappy? The stronghold's sergent-of-arms? Mr. Level 20? Guard 31?

From what I've read, the ninja is alone. You should probably play it as such.

You ninja, are on your own. I say get out while you still can.

Maybe you should have asked this question BEFORE you entered the stronghold.

Oh yes, these are fun.
