One of our group died and he had one on. Unfortunately he was poisoned as well and didn't make his save once he regenerated. So he is dead and I want to know if someone else in the group can use the ring? |

From the SRD: RegenerationThis white gold ring continually allows a living wearer to heal 1 point of damage per level every hour rather than every day. (This ability cannot be aided by the Heal skill.) Nonlethal damage heals at a rate of 1 point of damage per level every 5 minutes. If the wearer loses a limb, an organ, or any other body part while wearing this ring, the ring regenerates it as the spell. In either case, only damage taken while wearing the ring is regenerated. |

Just wanted to make sure now that the player who was previously using it is dead, I can loot it and then use it om my hand from now on. |

| #5LordOfWeaselsAug 10, 2010 10:01:55 | Huh. Two obvious answers: #1: Abstract HP, dude. But this answer is boring. #2: Who cares? Either way, there's just one of you - but I bet the process is creepy as hell for your friends to see. |
| #6chaosturtleAug 10, 2010 19:31:44 | Huh. I would say nothing would happen. If the magic did continue to function, the ring would just seal off at the wrist or wherever the hand was cut off. |
| #7MrCustomerAug 10, 2010 22:09:43 | Once the hand is severed it is no longer a part of the body and therefore is no longer a worn item, so the ring becomes inactive. Whats more is the ring only works on living flesh, it doesn't work on a corpse. A severed hand is a dead hand, a corpse, so the ring will not work. |

Oh come on, that wuld be the coolest way to create an evil twin NPC... |
| #9t_stalkerAug 11, 2010 8:50:02 | You could look at the ring as if it was a magic weapon from 4e: it automatically returns to the wielder when thrown. => Hand with the ring gets cut off; ring reappears on the other hand and starts regenerating the one that got cut off. (If the other hand also gets cut off the ring moves to a toe, but keeps the ring-slot.) (If the feet get cut off ... get creative ) |
