How does this work?
Here is the situation. My character Gensia with the Windsoul power of flight and he was knocked prone. What actions does it take to fly away? Would it take an move action to stand then a move action to fly or just a Move action to fly?

DMG 47

Knocked Prone: A flying creature that is knocked
prone crashes.

that is not what he is asking.

anyway, since you crash to the ground when you are knocked prone in flight, I would imagine that you would have to stand up before you could take off again. so move action to stand up from prone, then another move action to fly.

I think he was talking about being prone before he started flying.

If that is the case, you would have to stand up and then fly away as Prone states that you can not move from your square, except by crawling or forced movement.

Edit; Gah... I've lost my elite ninja skills...

That is what I thought.
Thanks

But I did convince my DM that could fly away like superman and then land on my feet without using the Second Move Acton. This allowed me to also attack in the same round.

...which is exactly what the rules are in place to prevent. :D

But in all seriousness, a non-flier can't stand up and move in the same Move Action, and I can't imagine it takes a flier LESS effort to do so.

Even if you don't have to 'stand up,' you should have to take a move action to regain your bearings before flying - You did just get knocked silly, after all.( see - preserving game balance without removing your ability to fly like superman. )

No.

When you use the Windsoul Genasi Windwalker power to fly it states that once you take that full movement you land on your feet. You can fly from the prone position and land on your feet once the movement is complete.

No.

The Windwalker power states "Fly 8 squares. If you don’t end your move on solid ground, you float to the ground without taking falling damage." This has nothing do to with taking off prone.
