So my friends and I are going to try out an "Evil" type campaign and I decided to go with a fighter. since we are all some sort of evil it would probably be best that I keep my stuff under lock and key, however since I am a fighter I don't really have skills with locks at all. I was wondering if it might be beneficial to make him a Locksmith so I can create my own locks and have my own stuff away from everyone (Gold, gems anything really)
Any suggestions?

Have you guys talked about PVP activity in your game? Why not just say you'll be evil to everyone else but to each other you won't do that. Problem solved.

The mechanics of D&D aren't really set up to handle PVP fairly anyway. 3.X is better than 4e, certainly, but far less than ideal.

Yeah, keeping your stuff locked away is likely to be the least of your problems.

Uh, evil characters are completely capable of cooperating

Orcs are chaoitc evil, yet cooperate in great hordes with a more or less formal structure. They just happen to like to destroy everyone else. If they can work together, then sure a small group of evil persons can cooperate enough to destroy or enslave everyone else without resorting to backstabbing each other or stealing from each other. In a group of 5 where everyone own 2000 gp it is more profitable to work together to steal 52000 gp from someone else (taking some time) than stealing within the group.

If stealing is a problem then make one person the banker, entrust the person with all the money and keep a record of who owns how much. Again assuming a group of 5: if the banker use the money belonging to the others or run away with it then the banker will be alone versus the rest of the group and severely punished.

Lastly, if the problem is thieves from outside the group, then make sure that the wizard and rouge lock the chests very carefully for you.

Unless the game is decidedly going to involve PVP there should be no real reason to lock everything away from everyone else in the party.  Evil characters can to an extent trust each other and are fully able to co-operate.  But, these issues: trust, teamwork, and everything that goes into a normal party must also be in an evil campaign.  That is, unless you are fully trying to go for an experience that is likely to drive the DM insane.
