Looking for New Online 4E group.

Ok....there is a long story about the fight I had with the old DM... short version is that he has some problems where he'd take some things a bit too seriously, and then would refuse to play that night.   I ended up playing in one session with him and the other 3 players in his group, first due to him 'not feeling like dming' which I can understand... then one of the other players' computer died.

Anyway, I am now a player without a group, yet wants to play...  However, the town I live in seems quite DnD free(or I just don't hang out enough, did find one group playing a Star Wars campain), and another point is that my family does take vacations to a different state every December and Summer, making getting to local games difficult.

Now that you know my situation, I was wondering if anyone knew of a website or something where I could try and find groups to play some 4E games online?  I currently have OpenRPG(the client last DM used to host the games online) and can download other clients if needed.  I do wish to play, I just can't do it in person, much as it stinks.

where are you looking for online games. I run adventures at mydndgame.com. I wouldn't mind additional players in one of the adventures, with at least three, i'd be willing to open a completely new adventure arc beyond the two i'm currently running.

PM for more details.

by the way, i run play-by-post. i don't use skype, maptools, etc.

Unfortunately, not looking for a play by post, wanna use OpenRPG or something similar, I work better when I can see stuff like that visually, so that's the kinda online game I'm looking for

i draw maps for the posts using Expression Design. the tactical edge is still there. check out some of the open forum here if you'd like to see an encounter in progress.

however, if you are looking for a dedicated time period of play in which all players can converge electronically to run a session from start to finish, i haven't got much i can say about that.

That is kinda what I am talking about, mainly because I'm the kind of person who doesn't wanna wait up to a day between turns.  I'm sure some of the PbP games don't have that happen, but I still like a timeframe during which stuff happens.   It might be just that I got reintroduced by such a method, and so wanna stick with it cause I know about that....

If you're still interested in an online group, I'd be more than willing to play as well since I'm in a similar situation.

There is a "local group" but I've played a couple of times with them and they're just annoying...Things take way longer than they should and roleplaying is almost non existent which is frustrating.

Anyways, just throwing that out there.

I'm also in a similar situation where my current group plays very rarely due to scheduling conflicts, and last I spoke to the DM he's strongly considering giving up on the whole thing.
I'm up for being a player if a game gets rolling.

I have limited experience with Maptool, but I'm flexible aslong as the platform is free.

Well  now you can always, always find a D&D group in your local area.  The real question is.  . . are you really willing to look under -that- rock?  Really?

I recommend rptools which features a very nice set of programs.  The main one being Maptools.  Couple that with Skype or Ventrillo etc and their 'looking for group' forum community and you will find folks to hang out with.  Even lots of LFR games happening for those one-off lovers.

I'll certainly look into it, one of the best parts of playing online is that then I'd be available if my family needs me, and I could use my Char Builder to keep my character up to date....
