Seriously, read the rules. Then read them some more. Then read them again. Then get your hands on a book or two of more rules, and read them. Read till you know how the basics of the game work inside and out, and you have some good ideas for bells and whistles to add that will work together well with your basic character outline. Read till you understand that knock is a sor/wiz spell, and a druid may not normally use a scroll of it. All that reading might help a bit with your overall literacy as well, which is always handy. P.S. - Darkstalker feat from the book Lords of Madness. It's the sneak's best friend. Blindsense, blindsight, scent, and tremorsense do not automatically detect a character with Darkstalker -- the would-be observer must make a Listen or Spot check to detect the character just like everything else would. Furthermore, they're forced to make whichever check has the higher DC (which would be set by your own Hide and Move Silently checks). |
| #3cuindlessApr 04, 2008 1:56:05 | Oh GODS... I never say this, but learn to spell! R-O-G-U-E A-D-V-E-N-T-U-R-E Grammar and syntax rules wouldn't hurt either. Okay, now that that's off my chest, it is very possible from your description that the DM simply doesn't like his monsters being taken by surprise. It really doesn't sound like you need a rogue in this party any way (skilljockeys usually become obsolete by level 13). It is also possible that your DM has some plans you're unaware of. Have you tried talking to him about how useless you feel with this character. As a DM myself, a little "Hey, could you include my character more?" goes a long way. |
| #4razilenApr 04, 2008 2:31:30 | look I don't know magic 100% and niever dose anyone else in our group but at least i don't make up my own prestige and not tell anyone!!! [bloody rule lawyer] look i never read all the magic rules for i got players hand book 2 mounths after the first person did and he always said those are the rules that a scroll wand staff and other magic iteams allow anyone to use them [as long as they have the write language or know how] every second meeting we find a new rule that we didn't before but everyone except me and one other just shouts "screw them!!" "We don't wont this or that!!" my playing group is only 7-8 months old, thats how long weave been playing. and sorry but English isn't my first language and i can't really help my spelling too much... my dogs are as simple as possible in battles +7 attack 1D6+3 damage or something like that i don't remember off by heart and thats it [they all have the same attack] although i don't use most of them jurring my campaigns [only my riding dog ussaly battles the others stay away ]but since we were vastly out numbered i brought them in to help. |
| #5cuindlessApr 04, 2008 2:42:30 | and sorry but English isn't my first language and i can't really help my spelling too much... My apologies. I did not realize you are ESL. Seriously, have you tried just talking to him and explaining that you're unhappy? |
| #6razilenApr 04, 2008 2:48:03 | well yeah but the thing is im unhappy with diffrent things, when i go to talk to him them if its about a rule the group ignores it if its about me getting jibbed they just say i always complain which is partialy true becuase i don't want to keep being stuck with a rouge and i want somehtin more then battle battle kill talk get job battle win times 10 i want a real world a roleplaying level |
| #7death1942Apr 04, 2008 6:23:22 | heh. welcome to my world. i have learnt to deal with it. infact i now encourage it. ok so the demi-god and his demons are inside that next room. we need someone to go take a look at the room. Everyone stares at each other until i volunteer. i find it fun, a sort of challenge. of course the funny payoff is when your the first in the room you tend to be the one with the most hitpoints at the end. don't ask me how that works it just does. |
| #8LivingShadowApr 04, 2008 19:15:25 | I had this same problem with my DM at about the same level too. (I'm still dreading rooms filled with 12-18 pulverizers.) Four things you need to get yourself: 1:Wand of Gravestrike(Spell in Spell Compendium) 2:Wand of Golemstrike(Spell also in Spell Compendium) 3:Ranks in Use Magic Device(To use aforementioned wands) 4:The aforementioned Darkstalker feat(To be able to deal with tremorsense, blindsight, etc..) |
