I am working on creating a Minotaur PC, and just have a couple of questions.

1. When rolling the hit points, do I add in the +12 as listed in the Monster Manual? Also, does the constitution bonus get added in?

2. I am using the Great Axe for his main weapon. According to the Players Handbook, the weapon does 1d12 points of damage, but according to the Monster Manual, the weapon does 3d6+6. Which one do I go by?

3. Does Gore get the strength bonus for attack and damage?

4. For the Skills, it says you get 9 x (2 + int modifier, minimum 1). Does that mean that the minimum would be 27 skill points?

That is all for now. May have more as I go on. Thanks in advance for the help.

Minotaur isn't a class. It's a race.

1) That +12 is the CON bonus to HP of the minotaur described in the monster entry multiplied by the number of HD. Ignore this. It doesn't apply to you.

2) Minotaurs are large creatures, so they use large size weapons. The weapon therefore does 3D6 damage. The +6 is from STR (x1.5 for being a 2-handed weapon), so you'll substitute your own STR for that.

3) Yes, depending on how you use it. If you use it as a primary natural attack, it does full STR damage. If you use it as a secondary natural attack, it does half STR damage. You'll add full STR to attack either way.

4) No, that means the minimum is 9.

For the record, I'm going to recommend you not play a Minotaur. It seems evident you do not understand a lot of the basic mechanics of the game, let alone the more complex ones used to play monstrous races. Might I suggest something easier?

i'm guessing this is 3.5?

1) the +12 HP is due to it's con 15 +2 bonus x 6 racial HD

2) the minotaur is using a larger then normal greataxe, one that's size appropriate for him. the d12 greataxe is one made for medium sized creatures. a greataxe made for large creatures, like the minotaur, is 3d6 damage. table 7-4 on page 114 in the PHB shows how to modify the damage for the appropriate size. remember to note that the cost for the weapon is doubled.

3) yup. you add your strength to the attack & damage rolls. half str to damage if it's used as a secondary attack.

4) a minotaur does indeed get 9x (2+int, minimum 1). the minimum 1 means that regardless of the minotaur's int, he gets at least 1 skill point per HD.

so a minotaur with 6 int (-2 mod) would get

9x(2+ -2, minimum 1) skill points or 9x(1) skill points to spend. this way you can at least have some skill points to spend and that the odd people who attempt to get a 4 int don't end up with negative 9 skill points :P

Seeing that you do not a a grasp of the rules I'd reccommend against playing any non-Player's Handbook races.

I don't know about 3.5E but the 4E Minotaur isn't hugely well-designed even if you've got an excellent grasp on the rules. It's my own personal hope that next year's campaign sourcebook is going to be Dragonlance, and it's going to have rules for Draconians, Kender, Gully Dwarves, Tinker Gnomes, and a redesigned Minotaur.

I'd settle for Dark Sun, though. And seeing as it's a good bet the PHB3 is going to introduce the Psionic power source it seems like more of a lock. *sad face*

Check out an old dragon for a write-up on minotaurs. They make good fighter characters.

Use the Minotaur PC race from Dragonlance, it's easier than using Savage Species.
