Aug 15, 2008 15:41:19 Is it more or less effective to have the PCs in my game on mounts? Thats assuming they can afford warhorses (for front line troops - guessing ranged fighters can ride a regular horse in the back without any issue) and want to spend the feat.

Trying to figure out if its overpowered before I introduce the idea into the game.

Aug 15, 2008 17:12:32 4th edition mounts are extremely limited in what they can do. You shouldn't have to worry about game balance just for some horses unlike in 3rd edition. I'd suggest making sure to know the mounted combat rules in the DMG and remembering that without actually taking the mounted combat feat in the PHB there isn't going to be a huge reason to actually fight from horse back.

Aug 15, 2008 17:58:27 Man, I dont know what I was thinking. Playing too much Warhammer... for whatever reason, I thought there was this huge AC bonus to being mounted.

I can see our Dragonborn fighter wanting a warhorse (he charges alot), maybe the others on riding horses (for speed), but other than that...

Aug 16, 2008 14:20:22 Yeah, the horses aren't going to be crazy. There are better mounts of course, griffons and hippogriphs and the like.
