Feb 23, 2009 11:05:47 Just a quick question for something that I think the PHB doesn't make completely clear (and if it does, I missed it.) A few players at my table have experimented with multiclassing, and we can't figure out if when you take a secondary class you get the features of that class or not. It would certainly make sense to me, but then it also seems like you're giving your character an unfair advantage due to all the buffs you might get from it.

Feb 23, 2009 11:14:41 You get precisely the class features that the Multiclass feat says you get. Sneak of Shadows gets you a trained skill and the ability to use Sneak Attack once per encounter. You do not get First Strike, or Rogue Weapon Talent, or anything else.

Feb 23, 2009 11:16:24 When you multiclass, you get exactly what the feat says you get. No more, no less. Also, as explained in the section on multiclass feats, you count as a member of the class you multiclass into for the purpose of meeting the prerequistes for feats and paragon paths.

If it is 4E (which seems most likely from just the post), then it should have been posted under rules Q&A. anything other edition should be under previous editions.

If you have a edition specific question, and post if on a non-edition specific boards, you need to state which it is.

Would the topic have fit in Rules Q&A? Yep, without a doubt. That forum is terrific for real questions that resolve real quick.

But that doesn't mean this forum is the wrong forum. Sometimes, a topic fits in more than one location and which gets picked is at the whim of the thread starter. Sometimes, the thread starter will even start the topic in both locations - completely reasonable.

If you have a edition specific question, and post if on a non-edition specific boards, you need to state which it is.

This I do agree with. Some questions are obvious - for example, if I ask about a prestige class or a paragon path, it's clear that it's 3.5 vs 4e. Otherwise, sticking the version of the game somewhere in your discussion is a good idea; and it doesn't hurt, of course, to mention the version even if you think it's obvious.

(Yes, I understand that a strict reading of RAW would only get me the teleportng weapon, but that is neither here nor there.)
