Jun 19, 2008 8:56:06 I have a sorcerer. if I take a second class, say wizard, since they both draw from the same spell list, can I cast the spells learned as a wizard as a sorcerer? Since even a first level wizard starts out with a spell book, if I take one level of Wizard and keep inscribing spells into the spellbook, can I then cast those spells as a socerer? In effect, having the sorcerer's larger spells/day and a wizards repritoire

Jun 19, 2008 9:18:59 No. The wizard's spells are his own, as are the sorcerer's. If you want to add more spells to the spells known a sorc has, prestige into Ultimate Magus (Complete Mage).

Jun 22, 2008 0:31:35 You could scribe your sorceror spells into scrolls and then scribe them into your Wizard spellbook, but this combo of classes rarely works out. In the end, you are gimped beyond belief (if you continue taking even levels of each class): you are a level 10 wiz/level 10 sorc. You are a level 20 character casting level 10 spells. That's not good.

Jun 22, 2008 17:57:26 There's one useful (read 'Abusive') trick in multi-classing (in 3.X) between Sorcerer and Wizard. Or, more specifically, Specialist wizard.
You take 1 level of sorcerer, then start as a specialist wizard (Evoker, Transmuter, Necromancer, Abjurist, Etc.)

Wizards has stated and ruled, repeatedly, that a character built in this manner can "As a Sorcerer" use scrolls, wands, and staves that contain spells from his schools that are prohibited for being a specialist Wizard.

For example, say you build a sorc1/wiz19, who is an Enchanter. You choose your prohibited schools as Evocation and Conjuration.
If you were a pure Enchater20, you could not cast Fireball(for example) from a scroll, wand, or staff. But as a Sorc1/Ench19, you can cast fireball from a wand, scroll, or staff.

That's the only benefit of Sorc/Wiz cross classing.
