Heres my characters problem, hes evil, not stupid evil mind you, more mad scientist evil. Because he is evil he wants to gain as much power as possible over everything he can get his eeevil hands on. This is a problem because the majority of the group (they are be nuetral and chaotic) a majority are followers of a god of death that usually looks down on the sort of eevil this character wishes to employ. An advantage this paticularly evil character is that no one knows who he actually is you see he is very good at disguising himself, (everyone assumes that he is the brother of another neutral character that is the phrophet of a god of death. If the character and others should find out however my evil character is sure to die. Now sure these mortals may pose a threat to this eeevil character but they are not the main threat, the main threat is the god. My question is how do I either stop this god, or what do you think the best way to hide from this god is, while still trying to create an army of eeevil?

I'm playing a character very similar to this in one of my games - he's a sleeper evil character.

The important thing that I must stress to you is that to make such a character work, you have to be mindful of the motivations of your fellow party members. You have to get your way and have their blessing while you do it. If you fail to do that, even if you win... you still lose because you'll have to retire the character, and probably earn the resentment of everyone at your table.

It works particularly well for my character, as he has everyone believing he's Neutral Good - though I'm starting to drop a few hints here and there that he's not what he seems. To keep favor with everyone, he buffs them in combat and doesn't hesitate to give potions of healings to the wounded and even buying magical items for the rogues so they can be more effective in combat. You'd be surprised how much people are willing to overlook when that person gives them an item worth 10,000 gp, or saves their lives.

Anyway, in a nutshell, don't focus on your own characters ambitions until you've won over the group. The only evil characters who succeed are those who are willing to give more than they receive in the short term and not rush their long term plans.

Take a look at my thread... called Villains player builds, you might find some useful information... btw if your dm is gonna be like ... the god smites you... he is a douchbag, find a better dm who isnt... a douchbag...Unless your playing first or 2nd edition... where gods actually had... stats and were killable...instead... in 3.0+ gods were more of a they arent really around... i mean one thing i know of for this situation is a dm will roll a 1d00 to see if the god is in one of his church's watching his followers.. even if you were there.. when he was watching... he wouldnt know your agenda... but that brings me back to my original point... play it out.. if you get smoked by the god of death... punch the dm in the face and say **** you *******

PS; one way the god might notice you if you were the patron of another deiety and he picked up on your aura in his church.... then he would either investigate... or kill you.... which god is this weeja's or nerul... if we are talking nerul he would use you as a tool to find out if your there of your own accord or by order of your deiety... nerul is more of the evil mastermind against all that is good but weejas... is more careless and will be probly give you some terrible curse.... i read something like this situation resently... in a thread called Combat Impotance... its a rogue looking for help cause his dm rolled a 1d100 and said the god happend to be in his church at the time when he was there...
but gues what that dm did.... he blew his eyes out of his head.... did he kill him no....but being blind sure does suck...but there are ways around that

Here is another point... the dm isnt supposed to throw anything at you that you cant handle... and if he is like okay you died ha to bad hehe... the GOD SMITES YOU...

Okay i noticed im repeating myself ... gl buddy
