| #1yamishinobiApr 19, 2009 3:08:29 | a few questions a friend wanted me to get answers on. If i wanted to play a wizard focused on ranged touch spells such as rays/orbs, would my rays/orbs be subject to the same rules as ranged weapons for ranged attack rolls when it comes to point blank shot/precise shot/sneak attack? i always believed by RAW that ranged touch spells benefit from pointblank/precise shot. is that true? i know a friend who thinks only arcane tricksters and unseen seers have the ability to sneak attack with spells? is this true? he doesn't seem to beleive otherwise. I always beleived rogue/wizards on the path of the arcane trickster/unseen seer had to take point blank shot or precise shot. are these feats neccssary. these are questions from 3.5. I need Strictly RAW answers. |

Complete Arcane's got a nice section right before the feats that describe "weapon-like spells". basically any spell that requires an attack roll can be effectively considered a weapon for the purposes of feats. the nice thing about high level D&D is that big, heavily armored creatures are very easy to touch. the Great Red Wyrm has a touch AC of 2. yes, the 1st level wizard with 10 dex can Ray of Enfeeblement the dragon without much worry of missing, barring a natural 1. he'll never bypass the SR, but hitting the dragon? piece of cake. |
