Alright, even though we don't have a group, my DM is gonna run a solo game with me. The problem is that I have no idea what I could play solo in 4e (except for maybe a Cleric of Tempus). Any thoughts or ideas? It doesn't need to be a terribly powerful build, just one that could make it solo.

The obvious answer is "if the encounters are balanced properly, you can solo with anything". However, if you want high survivability you should probably go defender. Fighter or swordmage mixes a decent amount of damage, a little control, a bit of movement, and plenty of damage soaking.

I'm currently thinking of a Dwarf Avenger, with a Cloak of the Walking Wounded (ASAP). Thoughts?

I'm playing a balanced cleric solo and it's working out okay. Good Str and high Wis. I can't help but get into melee combat so I'm taking Light Shield and Scale Armor feats asap.

Ask your DM for a concession house rule -- target "Ally" can be "Self" but only if you have no ally to work with (NPC or PC). It opens up a lot of powers to be useful (for me this was Righteous Brand and Sacred Flame).
