Need Magic Point Variant for non SRD classes

Is there a thread on the UA variant of magic points? I'm looking for Duskblade, and all the other magic users out there (including Mystic Ranger, Pathfinder classes, etc).

Apparently there was one here on this forum, but it got lost during the revision (is what I'm told).

Here's the issue. Majority rules, and the DM honestly doesn't care, so the players have asked that since they understand the online game system where you use "mana" instead of just memorizing X spell X number of times, they could just memorize spells, and take that spell and use it until your points run out. Well that's great, but what about for those of us who don't have that option?

The DM has ruled that he does not want two of the same class (specialized wizards count too), and that we're allowed to take any class so long as we can we take the magic point variant. If you can't, you can't have that class.

For two of us that really sucks. I'm going to be playing a duskblade, and the other guy is going to be a mystic ranger. The SRD doesn't take into account for those.

The other player and I have until the next session to find it, or we have to come up with new characters.

Nothing from nobody? Seriously? No one saw that thread that was up previously? The one before the revision? Damn. I've only got 24 hours left.

I'm not familiar with the Mystic Ranger, but can't you just take the same points as the normal ranger?
Or if that class' spellcasting comes a bit earlier, that of the bard?

For the DuskBlade, I'd go with the wizard table.

Don't you also have an account on brilliant gameologists?
I think you'll get a lot better response on their 3.5 charop board.
(You are the guy with the DM from Hell stories, right?)

Sorry, I can't help you.  Try the 3.5 forums, since 99% of the audience here in the 4E forum plays 4E and not 3.5?

This might not help you in time for your game, but, if you compare UA's spell point listing with the spell slots allotted to the various classes (at least, as far as I noticed with the first 8 or so levels of bard), you'll probably find that the spellpoints awarded are exactly enough to cast the spells that class would have if you were using the slot system.  It's probably not that simple (I really don't want to sit here and compare the two charts for every spellcasting class in the PHB), but if you REALLY need to figure it out in time for your game, I would say just award the characters enough spell points to cast the spells they would otherwise receive.

Yeah the mystic ranger has the same spell progression as the bard, but even more so. They cast 1 more spell per level.

Duskblade with wizard progression? I think that can be acceptable.

The thing is I've tried that but they don't really like helping anything that's got any reference to the Pathfinder system. You'll find that most people on there hate it.
And yes, I am that guy. ^^; BTW, it's pural (DMs as in two).

Not to be rude, but where does it say anywhere that this section is 4e only? I see 4e above in its own section of the forum, and 3.5 in its own section, but this looks more like a generalized section.

There's no rule *against* asking 3.5 questions here, but most of the audience still don't play the game you're playing, and most of the people who *do* play the game you're playing stay in the D20-specific section of the forum.

I'm just saying, you'll be more likely to get a better answer from a more qualified person, and your post will be exposed to more people who know what you're talking about, in the section specifically devoted to the game you're playing.

Fair enough.

To the OP:

Oh sorry, haven't been there in ... 5 months or so.
Back then people looked down on the system as it was "hacked together by a bunch of people who heared there was something wrong with 3.5 but had no idea how it actually worked".
(Note that I don't know anything about Pathfinder and that this is not my personal opinion.)

But your question seems actually about the UA system, which should deserve some attention, since people always seeme eager enough to use the Cloistered Cleric.

Anyway, if the casting mechanics of the Mystic Ranger are what you say they are, I'd start with the bard table, and then , as copycatzero mentioned before, just add that 1 extra spell worth of points.

Also, as people like closure on these things: might I ask what your dm's verdict on the matter was?
