| #1Shogun607Jul 02, 2012 17:08:09 | Ok so me and my friends generally play by 3rd-3.5 edition and most of the time i Dm (no one else wants to lol) but i am finally getting a chance to play and i wanted to role a warlock something different from the norm for me. Anyway I have tried looking up some information on locks and i seem to get 2 different ways to play them and i cant figure out which is the right one. For example in the book Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms its shows that warlocks dont really have spells but more class stuff that they can do eldrich bolt, pact weapon, pact reward etc.... However on the 3.5 D@d wiki is says that certin levels i can accsess spheres which have different spells in them. I will put a link to the wiki i am looking at. Anyway i am extremly confused and idk which way the the proper way for warlocks or if im just over looking something about them that ties it all together. So if anyone can help me out it be sweet thanks in advance. www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Warlock_(3.5e_Class) |

You want to find a copy of Complete Arcane, the book that introduced the Warlock class to 3rd Edition. It also bears noting that, if I recall correctly, 95+ percent of that 'D&D wiki' is simply a repository for homebrew materials and is probably not going to be useable in your DM's campaign. |

Since he can do everything he can do infinitely, he's great if your DM likes to throw endurance challenges at you where you can't stop to rest/sleep/recover your spells. However, in terms of raw power, the warlock comes in tier 4 out of 6, so if you're looking to wreck house, the warlock is the wrong place to look. |

Warlock sweet spot is level 3-6 where the other casters don't have many spells per day and the warriors are only making one attack a round so your blasting keeps up in damage. If you want something similar to a warlock, but much stronger consider a sorcerer and just describe your magical heritage as a pact you made with someone. |

Just like the 3E sorcerer only with a totally different mechanic and social fluff. And the 3E sorcerer was 90% the same as th wizard in mechanics but was treated differentlly in default social fluff. |
